do you miss the closthes you purged
There are so many times i think of all the clothes i tossed out ,mostly given to charity , but I miss the ones I see some gg wearing or in a movie or TV show . I can rememeber the store i bought them , the sales girls who sold them to me, the look of some of the gg's lol, when i come out to see how it looks in the mirror but mostly found happy memories of how they felt and made me feel . The only bright side is when I see it on a gg or in a movie I can say atleast I had great fashion sense

The clothes I had before this iteration of dressing up were never that great - bought from a CDing shop. But, God, I wish I still had the wig that went with the clothes. That really worked for me, long, black...

I used to miss things when I purged. Now I just call it culling the herd, making room for the next iteration of clothes and shoes. One thing I have learned... don't purge too much or the rule of nature abhorring a vacuum will cause me to refill the newly form void.

Re: do you miss the closthes you purged
I have never done a 100% purge however from time to time I do clean out the closet and yes thre are things I have gotten rid of I wish I hadn't.
My major regret is all the clothes I had and could no longer fit into. I graduated college in 1973 and really started to come into my own as far as dressing around 75 or 76. Back then I could easily get into a size 9, nowadays it is a 14 and with some of those it takes a good girdle to get the skirt zipped up. Just glad I had the time and opportunity to enjoy them back then!

Even if I rarely wore something, I find myself thinking about it once in a while.

Re: do you miss the closthes you purged
The only time I did a full-scale purge was just before I got married, for all the reasons all of you understand.
I don't miss those at all, they weren't that nice and half of them didn't fit right anyway. While I was married, my then-wife threw out all my stuff once, and most of that wasn't so good either but there were a few nice skirts in there that I liked.
Now I occasionally cull, like Davita said, clothes that no longer fit, that I don't like anymore, to make room for new things, or when they are torn/stained/zipper broke/etc. What I'm planning to do next time is take the ones that are still in good condition to a 2nd hand shop that I frequent. Then I can trade in the ones I don't want on something else.

OH yes! not all but definetely some, that nice black dress, those killer heels, but mostly it was just stuff. I will never purge again, but I thin I may have to learn to cull soon.

Re: do you miss the closthes you purged
For some reason I never went through the typical purge cycle. I guess I never had the kind of internalized guilt and I'd always been pretty up front with anyone I was dating - I just spent decades assuming that society at large wouldn't accept me.
Now I have done precisely one major purge, and that was to get rid of my male wardrobe. I hope it goes without saying that I don't miss it one bit. Not all purges are necessarily bad!

Whether internalized or imposed, guilt and fear add a thick layer of terror and helplessness to the obsession, making CD even more secretive and purging itself a kind of compulsion that is especially focused on the clothes we are most attracted to.Kimberly Kael wrote:For some reason I never went through the typical purge cycle. I most regret purging a cream colored long nightgown that I'll probably never be able to find again.

i miss a fab mini dress that I bought over seven years ago that I wore with tights from the pretty polly nylons range. I looked so smart it breaks my heart now. Also miss a few nice dresses and many pairs of tights purchased from House Of Fraser store including some lovely ones from the Wolford range. Also a pinstripe mini skirt which I thought was size 16 but turned out to be a 12 but it fitted like a dream. Some nice knitted jumpers went as well and a pair of flat shoes.

Re: do you miss the closthes you purged
I remember back in 1972 or 1973 when I was at university, I had just met a new girl friend, and decided to purge my femme clothing. I really regret getting rid of a lovely black nylon nightdress and robe, along with slips, tights (pantyhose) and stockings, garterbelts, bras, and some lovely dresses...ah well, gone now. Maybe the garbage man on duty that day got some use out of them...

Re: do you miss the closthes you purged
From every purge, there has been a few articles of clothing that I have regretted getting rid of. More than anything else, I regret the total waste of money spent on replacing all of the items. The last purge was just over 11 years ago now. That was even after my accepting wife knew about my dressing habits. Even she said don't waste money buying clothes to just get rid of them. Problem is that the "undies" drawer is full to overflowing now. LOL
So I concluded that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to enjoy themselves as long as they can. People should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of there labor, for these are gifts from God.

I was on the purging cycle for about 30 years. (not any more thankfully) There were some real pretty nightgowns I do wish I still had.
I was ment to wear a dress

I don't miss the clothes as much as the shoes.
