the "metrosexual" and the interesting thing about

Post by Ahzz »

I'm certain that with the media buzz over the "metrosexual" in the last 12 months, everyone has an idea of what that stereotype is.

The gist that I have gotten is that society has embraced the idea that a guy doesn't have to be the tough brutew, or the hunter anymore. I mean here are these guys getting their nails done, getting perms, hair "styles" (instead of a cut), skin treatments, eyebrow pluckings, etc....

Is it just me, or is this a good sign that society in general has finally accepted the blending of the male and female aspects into one person, whether it's a male or female body?

Can anyone else point out other advances in the american (or other) society that supports the idea that the gender bias is truly advancing towards a foreseable end? (obviously women's rights, but EVERYONE knows about that one ;) )

Anyways, just a random thought....

The metrosexual thing is awesome. David Beckham has been an unknown worker for our cause. Seeing this football star out with his wife, wearing a sarong, hair band in, nails done. Lets get behind it. While not being seen as a crossdresser as such, it certainly is a blending of the typical stereo types.
That said, I don't think small town country Australia is quite ready to see the local Agronomist checking wheat crops in a skirt. Damn shame!

*nod* I've started looking for little signs like this to toss out as evidince that crossdressing isn't wrong. It's just a way of appearance and habbit. :) Nothing more odd or different than a punk, or a goth, or a cowboy, or a ..... anything!

Hi folks,

I heard recently that the Beckham image is to be discarded by the media machine for the working class hero Rooney.
When I go out to a nightclub In bloke mode, I always wear something shiny, colourfull, semi see-through, whatever. 3 years ago this was the height of fashion, now I stand out from the crowd when everybody else wears shirts that look like 50s wallpaper. Girls Iv'e never met before come up to me and inform me that I'm gay ("your'e gay, you").
"You can tell that from just looking at a shirt ? Wow, what a clever girl you are"
I sometimes can't stand fashion and the slaves it makes of people.
Rooney in a sarong ? Or a cute little pink number with tassles.

Love to all
