Was getting tax stuff together this morning and had the TV on for background noise when I heard a song from my past and looked up. Yes it was White Rabbit by the Jefferson Airplane. Google it if you are not familiar with it. Maybe what surprised me even more is it was a commercial for a cruise line!
Don't get me wrong I love that song and have been known to "crank it up" if it comes on the radio but seriously? For a cruise line? Didn't whoever put it there listen to the words or vet the song? Not sure about the rest of you but somehow I cannot put the two together in my mind. It did get me to thinking though what audience are they aiming at?
Do you look up even though you know it is a commercial when a catchy song or phrase comes on? Do you think how cool or WTF?

Remember Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did only she did it backwards and in high heels!

Kind of like the State of South Dakota's campaign against meth has the slogan "Meth we are on it". And paid lots of money for it also.

I remember making "White Rabbit" and their albums when I worked for RGA Records division back in the sixties and early seventies. It was a little more relevant back then. Wonder what people think of it now?

Re: Commercials
I have seen that cruise line commercial and thought WTF as well.
Not sure about the rest of you but I am so sick of the gecko commercials I want to throw up every time one comes on which is way too often IMO. Maybe they were cute in the beginning but they sure seem to want to flog them to death

I don't know, I've never been on a cruise, but I used to have a small motor boat and just taking it out on the river takes you to some other place (which is like where Alice goes in the original book). That's the point of it (anyway to me) - so I'm guessing they're trying to allude to a comparable experience on a sea-bound boat.
