Well, you know how it is; sorry to be so cynical, but if there's eventual money to be made, governments will warm up to the most reprehensible individuals and groups. Such is the world of men, alas!
I had to reread the article about three times before I saw what I hoped I would see. I am sure the rest of you saw it too - it was the Columbia Congress that was addressed not the US Congress! If it had been our Congress, I would have been burning up the phone lines to my reps. But, sometimes I think there ain't much difference anyway between the two. If it entails the possiblility of $$$ in their pockets I guess they would let Hussin address them.

First star to the right, then straight on 'till mornin!
Alas, I have to agree with your statement that the majority of the press is biased and no longer on the up and up. That is why I try to track down any unbiased sources I can. The BBC seems to be one of the better ones along with Reuters. I haven't read it lately,so this may have changed, but The Slate, MSN's news magazine is one of the better ones also.
While articles such as these are indeed "peace robbers", I feel it is important to keep up with world events.

Sad but true. I feel that this is setting a very dangerous precedent. What's next, Osama Bin Laden addressing our Congress??? I shudder at the thought!

When I originally read the article it said that it was the US congress that was approached. I guess they corrected the error. But you are right, it does at first glance seem to read that it's the US congress that was spoken to.
However the main issue still stands. Here is a known terrorist and drug lord being carted around and protected by the US air force. 8-P This is just plain wrong.
Side note here... ever notice how bush seems to cite unspecific terrorist threats when he starts to get behind in the polls? Well, a university researcher has notice as well and did a study. Guess what.... the fear mongering works. http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtm ... geNumber=1
For those that support bush, please don't take this as an attack on you, or your party (if actively affiliated with one). I am merely attempting to show why we should get rid of Bush as soon as possible for our own sanity and safety.
Maybe we can start a political thread specificly for posting of pro/con arguments for bush/kerry?
After a while of "Keeping up" ... all we really see are the same basic themes varied by times, places and names?
The majority of people are merely the herd
Of the remainder ... the majority are predators ... feeding on the herd
A small few people are actually creators ... locked in a perpetual search for outlets through which to release their positive energy ... despite all the resistance imposed by the herd and the predators

You said; A small few people are actually creators ... locked in a perpetual search for outlets through which to release their positive energy ... despite all the resistance imposed by the herd and the predators
Very nicely said, and a much more productive exercise in my opinion.

This made me think of the character "nibbler" on futurama. *giggle* little innocent looking creature that literally eats ANYTHING that aproaches. hehe
