Biding my time

Post by Virginia »

I stopped at the clinic today to check on the LHE. (Combining broad spectrum pulsed light) hair removeal. They gave me some very general information. Like I would not need "skin deading" lotion; they would do my entire face each session; it is not guaranteed; it does not need "much" maintenance, i.e., coming back every six months or so. The Dr. came to the counter and got a little preturbed with all my questions and "strongly" suggested that I set up a consultation time. Actually, I liked her attitude. I am juggling several things right now like I have contracts on both my rental properties and I am looking to buy another, to move into if this divorce thing happens, so I told them next week I would set up my "consultation."
I want to thank all of you for your input and my TS friend swears by the results. She is having laser treatments and her skin is like silk now and she said not having that hair makes her makeup not only go on better, but make her look so much better!

Intense pulsed light devices operate on similar principles to lasers. Using the photoepilation process, the device offers a broad spectrum of light to treat a variety of hair and skin colors as well as hair depths.

The first hair removal lasers used a ruby laser. They were best at removing dark hair from light skin. That's because they targeted melanin, the pigment that darkens both hair and skin. So they zapped the dark hair while bypassing the light skin. When used on darker skin, they sometimes caused blistering and permanent skin discoloration without removing any hair. The newer neodymium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet (Nd:YAG) laser may be suitable for all skin types. In general, though, lasers are still best at removing dark hair.

If you wish to remove light or gray hair, a method called intense pulsed light, which uses a broad spectrum of nonlaser light, may be an option.

During an initial consultation, your doctor asks about your medical history, assesses your skin type and explains the risks and benefits of hair removal. To reduce the risk of complications, your doctor may ask you to refrain from taking medications such as aspirin and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or dietary supplements such as niacin and vitamin E.

Hair grows in a cycle. Hair follicles have a resting and a growth phase.

Only the follicles in the growth phase contain hairs that can be destroyed by the heat.

Hairs in the resting phase will first have to reach the growth phase before they are suitable for an Ellipse treatment.

Therefore it is important to repeat the treatments at intervals so that all hair follicles have reached the growth phase.

The length and the duration of the hair growth cycle depends upon a number of factors such as skin type, hair density, hormonal balance, age.

Normally, 5 to 7 treatments will be needed with intervals between the treatments of 1 to 3 months.
