This weekend I joined my SO and her family for a quick trip to the beach. While packing, I decided to throw in the breast forms, wig, along with a pair of shorts and t-shirt, just in case the opportunity to get out for a while presented itself. I figured that since we had taken separate vehicles (she lives in a different city), I would at least have a chance to drive back en femme if nothing else.
Over the next day and a half, we had a great time. By Sunday morning, however, her mother was ready to hit the road for home poste haste. Once their car was loaded up, I told my SO that I planned to stay for a couple of more hours to get some "Angie time" (as she calls it) in. A stroll on the beach and perhaps a visit to the mall would be nice. After seeing them off, I broke out the makeup case and tried to work a 20-minute miracle. No sooner had I hopped in the car, the cell phone rang. "Where are you? Our car has overheated.", came the somewhat agitated voice over the phone. Apparently, they had gotten stuck in traffic and the temp light turned on. They pulled over, at which point her brother, despite everyone's protestations, decided to check the fluid level by opening up the radiator cap. Needless to say, he touched off a propylene glycol geyser, which effectively drained the radiator in a very rapid fashion. He was lucky that he didn't burn himself in the process.
After she described the automotive carnage, I told her that it would take me a few minutes to get back to male mode (I had a sneaking suspicion that her mother would not appreciate roadside assistance from the transgendered branch of AAA). Hanging up the phone, I took one last look at the beach before breaking out the Wet Ones and becoming Mr. Manly once again. When I reached their location, a quick refill of the radiator was all it took to get them roadworthy. I decided to follow them back home just in case trouble again reared its ugly head. My SO rode back with me and we had a lot of laughs over the day's comedy of errors. Just goes to show that sometimes the unexpected can change plans for the better.

My SO and I are thinking about going to a masquerade party being held at a local music club. What could possibly happen THIS time? I'll pack the fix-a-flat just in case the tires (or the breast forms) give out.
