At times my desire to crossdress weakens for weeks at a time. These times make me wonder whether this will really stay with me for life like it does with apparently everyone here. In fact, it's about the only reason I don't want to get my leg and armpit hair permanently removed by electrolysis. I want to keep my options open.
I do find myself at times needing more clothes, but from what I've read here that's the case with most people. So I don't think that's a problem, but I do sometimes wonder if it's worth the money.
Has anyone here ever crossdressed for a while, then quit for good for lack of desire?
Sometimes very weak desire

For a number of years when I was in my thirties my dressing became very infrequent - to the point that I thought I would basically just lose the habit. But I picked it up again a few months before I turned 40. Your CD'ing might go dormant, but, unless you're pretty unusual, you'll probably return to it.

I think it is pretty much an extablished fact that "once a crossdresser, always a crossdresser!" The inate desires that accompany us vary from person to person. One of the current scientific treaties out there is that there are three accepted aspects of crossdressing and being in any one of them is perfectly all right based on one's comfort level! One is just dressing for dressing sake - enjoy it, relish it, just have fun. Two is (my interpretation) dressing, looking at the person in the mirror and asking yourself, "what am I doing and who is that?" The feeling passes and the person goes about there life. Three is when you look at that person in the mirror and not only question who she is, but why is she there, what does she mean to you and you begin an indepth study to see if you can find answers as to why you have this "woman" inside you and what does it mean and are you accepting of it and what can you do to "make her happy" and the big one - "How important is she to you!?"

If anyone does quit for good, Daniel, they never come back here and tell us about it. What would be the point? I'd have to say the chances of the desire leaving you completely are very small, though. The people who are still on forums like this one talk about stopping for years, sometimes, but it does come back.

Just go with the flow Daniel. The need to CD can go away for a while, but usually comes back. I've heard a few CDs on more than one forum say they have managed to quit, and it's been X no. of yrs.
One has recently admitted that the need has come back, but she hasn't given in to it yet.
Note that some who lose their need purge, only to find they've made a mistake. If you find yourself wanting to purge, just box your things up and store them away. If the need returns, you won't have to go out and buy new things.
