Rip-off by so called Specialist Services

General talk about CD/TGing and gender topics that aren't necessarily fun things we do while en femme, or for gender-driven discussions.

Rip-off by so called Specialist Services

Post by Kerri »

Hi yer,
I hope you all had a good holiday time? *-*

I have known for a long time that specialist TG supplier's have ripped off the very community they claim to serve. This why I always strived to buy my feminine wares from your usual womens' suppliers.

I was so shocked this evening when reading a link on this forum to see just by how much these suppliers rip us off.

The link given in good faith was for a shop where Transgendered people could go to dress in privacy. But the shop also provides breast prosthetics.

But at what cost? Follow this link to ripped off:-
http://www.crisscross.net/breastforms.html

Or follow this link for a more realistic price:-
http://www.thebreastformstore.co.uk/bre ... -seal.aspx

What could be worth an extra $500? "Caviat Emptor"
See even the Roman's had a word for it.

There are several rip-off merchants around, lets help our fellow transgendered friends and show them where to shop and where not to shop.

Tara

Hi Kerri (--)

There are many rip off merchants, even more so with our sepeciality needs and we have to do a lot of shopping round to get a good price set of forms but you can get them v cheap as i have here

http://www.choice.co.uk/AgNet/product.a ... iew=search

It's such a shame they dont provide the nipple but we get what we can with the limited funds we have. I don't know if they ship oversea's but i'm sure they wouldnt mind answering any inqieries (a sale is a sale afterall).

Ladies:
I agree that the pricing is out of sight.
What one needs to do, is develop a relationship with a local Shop, It could be in the next community or several counties away if necessary but ... not shopping in a chain type store or where you can not try on the item. A little old fashion lingerie shop with little old ladies who have seen it all and are very willing to assist in product selection and sizing.

I have done so, and am very happy when ever I make my purchases. It was at this shop, that I purchased my forms.
When I purchase my forms several years ago, the staff ensured that they fit properly, were not too small or overtly too large. As the story of the three bears go, "Just Right"
It is with this same shop that I purchase my bras, panties, girdles etc as they always make sure that the item fits propery. The make sure that the shoulder straps are at the correct lenght, making sure that the forms are fitted properly, and ensure that with a blouse, or sweater, the fit is proper. I usually bring a blouse and sweater with me when ever I shop with them.
With the little shop, I have the confidence in knowing that all things fit properly and I look my best.

Hi all,

I would like to chime in here and say ''The Breast Form Store" is as honest as they come. I have purchased from them and have told many people about them. I guess thats a plug for them, anyway other cloths I get direct from a store or ebay. Shoes I buy in person as each has a different fit and yes I have gotten many a stair. You know if you think about it you can buy anything you wish in person at any store you want all you got to do is just do it. (--) Carol Ann

Hi,

I am pleased that some people have found The BreastForm Store good value. I can only judge by their advert. I have experienced big style ripoff here in the UK. "Transformation" have branches in most major English cities. Their prices for lingerie are extortionate, their shoes are well over priced and their changing service is abysmal. I know I have been there!

Another very expensive specialist in London is Axfords. I personaly don't buy much now. Nowadays I keep to fem underwear and ordinary boys tops etc..
The magic of dressing has gone away, been gone for many years in fact, but the fem personna remains the same.
But in my day "I dressed and went walkabout openly for over twenty years" I learned to use main stream stores for almost everything.
I did have little old lady shops as preferred by Stephanie H, sadly in Aberdeen they have all retired and shut up shop.

Pauline, do you find enhancers are enough to fill a cup? I think I saw them in Makro and Boots before Xmas, I will need to check that out.

Anyways, the moral toall newbies is, dont be taken in by the adverts for specialist services. In the main their manufacturing standard is very low, their prices very high and most of what they sell is available at main stream stores,or as said earlier on Ebay.

Take care

Hi Kerri

The smaller of the two size breast forms would not which is why I always go for the larger of the two as it does do the job of filling out the "B" cup bra's but not any bigger unless you have some natural growth with being over weight (which i do from time to time, not enough to fill an "A" cup mind). Being that i have a large frame i can support if i can fill a larger cup size but then they would definatly be too noticable under my male attire and i wouldnt want that.
