Donna -

Thanks for the article, and I've saved the site for further reading!!

I hope they don't wimp-out under pressure from the Religious "Wrong" - who are actually promoting discrimination and intolerance under the guise of "being Christians."

SL,

Oh how do I say this?, I am a Christian and I read my bible every night and I cross reference all the passages that people quote and there is no reference about crossdressing in the new testament and we live in the new testament NOW not the OLD. Sorry if I stepped on some toes.

Hey, Carol Ann -

No apologies necessary, I fully understand where you are coming from, and although I'm not a regular Church-goer or Bible-reader by any means, I was raised LCMS (Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod) - the strictest synod of all Lutherans - and I attended the Lutheran day school as a child, as did my sisters. However, I was always questioning things, kept an open mind, and made (and still make) my own decisions on how to apply the Bible to my every day life.

I have never tolerated double-standards (do as I say, not as I do) and I abhor discrimination of any kind. That's where my family and I disagree, because they don't see their "religious wrong" as being discriminatory.

Passed the House and the Senate
Hate Crimes Bill Put on Pentagon Measure

By LAURIE KELLMAN
The Associated Press
Thursday, September 27, 2007; 4:06 PM

WASHINGTON -- The Democrat-led Senate on Thursday voted to let federal law enforcement help states prosecute attacks on homosexuals, attaching the provision to a massive spending bill for the Iraq war and daring President Bush to veto the whole package.

The White House wasn't commenting on the prospects for a veto of the underlying defense authorization bill. But some Republicans warned that's just what would happen after the Senate voted by voice to accept the hate crimes amendment.
Now let's see if the President vetos his much needed war funding, since this is attached.

I have called and e-mailed 2 of my Senators for be on the committee that help draft the bill. I hope it passes because is a much needed law. I'm a member of HRC and a avid supporter transgendered rights.
