Sonar...Gaydar...CDare?

Post by Eureka »

so it caught my minds eye, do any of you think that by learning the "tricks of the trade" we have almost like a CDare? because we know the techniques we could easily distinguish who may be a CD in day to day life (usually more so if they are dressed). i know that ive walked around the mall, saw a fellow CD sitting down and went over and talked to them about make-up advice, and she was 99% passable. the only thing i could see was off setting was that the hair of her eyebrows didnt match her hair on her head color wise.

what do you girls think?

Hi Eureka--
We may develop it, (and I think we do), but it's using it that's the problem area. I have seen quite a few individuals that were either CDers or fulltime TGs, and I'm not able to confirm that without asking. Generally, I don't like to do that. Even if a CDer knows she's not totally passable, I don't feel she wants to be reminded of it, even by a sympathetic person.

The person you talked to may have felt OK about it because it was only a tiny detail that 'outed' her. She also might have felt you were being polite, and really read her wig or her hands. Who knows?

I had a woman come up to me in a hotel bar and talk to me, just so she could make sure I wasn't real. She was very friendly and talkative, and said that her two male companions weren't sure. She was; she said, "Oh, I can tell by the hands."
I had fun talking to her, but at the same time, she was letting me know that I wasn't blending in, either.

On other forums, I've seen talk of some kind of 'signal' that we could use to test if the other person was a CD. I used to talk about wearing a t-shirt with a recognizable TG symbol on it. None of that has happened yet.

Hi Eureka,

This topic came up but got very little response when I raised the issue in the past. My situation was a bit different as I was "en drab" and was shopping in a store and there was a CD'er and his SO shopping as well. He/She was making very little attempt to pass, a sleeveless camo shirt as I recall, jean shorts, short (sorry but the best description was "dirty gray/blond hair) and a 5'o'clock shadow, but the nicest red nails!!!

Anyway, I was torn as to whether or not to approach her, decided against it then came on the forum and asked what others thought! Well, the general concensus was that I did the right thing in not approaching her and for various reasons.

I guess if you did not make a scene when you approached her and she let you "into her world" then you came out OK. Since you said she was in a mall, that would lead me to believe one of two things about her. She was either a "militant, in your face crossdresser" or she felt good enough about herself that she felt she blended in and passed!!! You kind of blew that theory for her. Then again, it's the old saying, "takes one to know one!"

Again, based on your post she was nice enough to talk with you and I am glad of that. Hope you may have made a new friend!
