It is all getting fuzzy

Post by Brenda Scott »

The furthest back that I can remember is that my older sister would dress me up. i remember at least 2 times; although, there must have been more. I must have been younger than 4. Once she dressed me in a ballerina toto, another time she said she was dressing me up as a pirate. We went into my parents room, she didn't dress me as a pirate, but put a lot of makeup on me. We got caught, and she got into trouble. I don't remember her dressing me up again.

When I was older, at least 12 I whished I could stay with her and have her dress me up again. About that time I started taking showers rather than baths. The shower was in my parents bath room. In there was my mothers makeup. I was always drawn to makeup especially lipstick. So there was some, I nervously picked it up, rotated it out, as I brought it to my lips, my hand had uncontrollable shaking, I smeard a bit on. admired it and then took a shower.

In 8th grade French class, we were doing the play Cinderella. One day, the girls who were playing the evil step sisters were gone, so my friend, who was the class clown got me to play the part with him. Everybody thought that it was so funny, that we were to do the part for the play. All wer got to wear were dresses and clip-on earrings. I still wish to this day that we could have gone all the way. We ended up being the hit of the show, it was quite funny.

When I was old enough to say by myself, my parents would go a visit my grandmother. I would be alone for a night. You all know what I did. I tried on everything that my mom had, and put on makeup. Unfortunatly, mom did not have a wig, my feet were too big, I was a later in life baby, so she wore grandma clothes. and I really didn't like any of her shades of lipstick (pink and orange, I rather like red). I think I got about 5 or 6 oppturnities while in high school to dress.

When I was about 21, I told a girl that I liked to dress in womens clothing. She said that she would like to dress me up. When I was at her house and no-one else was there she dressed me up, makeup, bra, nylons, she didn't have any dresses, so i wore a short pokedoted number. No shoes, of course, and no wig. The issusion just didn't do it for me.

That year for Halloween, I went as Mrs. Claus and I got a girl to go as Mr Claus. I got a girl to do my makeup and paint my nails (my first time). The only thing missing was shoes, why didn't I try harder to get shoes. I also wish that would have shaved my legs, I gould have gotten away with it that time. I absolutely loved being out dressed in a female costume.

Later I will tell about dressing and married life.

Love,

Brenda

Nice to hear your story Brenda. I remember shoes and a wig being the last thing I ever got to complete my femme look too and how I somehow unconvincingly tried to get by without them for too many years. Once you complete your look though, there's no going back.

Look forward to hearing more of your story.

Shoes were always the biggest hurdle for me too, and some of the last items I had to procure to complete 'me'. The sizing always drove me nuts as I was always too chicken to try them on in the stores, even for just micro-seconds. Then one day, I stopped at a garage sale to look for some books, and on one of the tables I spied one of those old aluminum shoe sizing tools the stores used to have. Needless to say, I left with no books, but at .50 cents for the sizer, I was quite pleased with my purchase. And after learning to use the sizer, I've never had a bad fitting pair since.
