Interesting observation. Perhaps those who are dedicated to full time CD status must leave their previous attachments behind. Meanwhile, others of us have to lead a dual life if we want to retain our past interests. I know that when going to our horse club functions, I'm in full male mode except for my shaved arms and panties.Sylvia H wrote:Ive let most of my memberships lapse since starting life over a couple of years ago. But i am still (not very active member) of IEEE.

I used to volunteer with the Carolinas Aviation Museum, until I moved back to Virginia. I am a member of a couple of different online scale modeling communities (armor, scifi and What If). I also recently joined Xbox Live.

I also am a ham and belong to several amateur radio clubs --- our local club, a DX club and a contest club. You'll usually find me lurking on the HF bands in search of DX. I also tinker in the state QSO parties to work new counties. And, like JoAnnDallas, I also belong to QCWA and just became our local chapter president.

I'm involved with an organization that provides services to children and adults with disabilities. I coached in a youth club for many years, even a couple of years after my son stopped playing. But the parents made me crazy! I also wanted to spend more time with my wife after our daughter moved into a community residence.
I also played in a band for a while, but I'm not sure that counts as an "organization" (although it sure had the politics of one!).

I'm not that kind of girl.
