So how did you pick your name

General talk about CD/TGing and gender topics that aren't necessarily fun things we do while en femme, or for gender-driven discussions.

Well, I guess I picked it for a couple reasons. Michelle was the first girl I had a crush on in elementary school. Also, I like double L's so it worked well. I picked my female name Michelle Kelly McClelland. I think it sounds pretty.

I'm experiencing major Deja Vu here. Anyway, my femme name shares one or more consonants and vowels with my given name, which had no corollary for the other gender.

My wife picked it out two weeks after I came out to her, while we were dating.

She helped me change on a friday night while we were house sitting for her mom one weekend. She jumped on the internet and started looking between a list of girls names and me. She said I most looked like a Kayla, so it stuck. That was the first weekend of many where I would stay en femme full time. It was so GREAT!

Otherwise, I think it would have probably taken what my mother would've named me had I been a born a girl: Sharron. Of course now that I've become so used to identifying myself as Kayla, I think I look nothing like a Sharron. [-X [-(

That is so great. You are very lucky to be able to share your life with her that way Kayla.

I think I have answered this elsewhere but here goes again.

I picked Susan as it is a name that has figured large in my life, from my first adolescent crush on Susan Dey (Partridge Family) through Susan St James who I think has the most sexy voice ever to my friend in Southern California who is 6' 2" in her bare feet. MY daughter's second name is Susan.

All the Susans I have met have been lovely people and I hope I can continue in that manner. If I had been born a girl, I would have been called Claire but that name does not fit me.

I am proud to be a Susan

Choosing a Name

Post by Debra Russell »

I chose my name because my first name is the same as my wife's best friend. My last name is a family name used on both sides and the initals are the same as my real name. Debbie

Not quite sure where I came up with my femme of LeeAnne. I keep my real last name the same, giving me the initials of LAC. LayCee

After getting a good scare from a grizzly last year I did a lot of thinking about what life is about. I concluded it should be more fun and its too short and I should let more of the real me out. So I came up with the name Mary Ellen aka me. :)

I choose my femme name because a previous forum I was a member of they would hound any MTF CDer that they needed a femme name. So at the time I conformed and picked a femme name that is similar of my male name for lack of any better ideas. I have thought of changing it to a femme name that I like better or just back to a male name as that is really who I am is a guy in femme clothes. But it is not a strong pull for me to change so I do not. In fact when I go to counseling I just told them to go by my male name no matter what mode I am in. So they do and it does not bother me as that is who I am no matter how I am dressed.

I needed a name for the forum and at the time, I noticed all the members had fem names. Up to that point, I never really thought about a name for my fem self. My wife helped me pick this one.

At first I was thinking of Karen, or maybe Kristen. But Amber said, "No, you don't look like a Karen or Kristen." So I asked her who I did look like. She said, "How about Kyra?"

...and so it came to be...
