Hair Removal

Post by Brandi Lynn McClellan »

I like to have the smooth look all over, so I used Nair and then shaved what I miss.
Problem is it grows back to quick and using Nair on my whole body is a bit of an ordeal.
I really want to be a smooth girl though.
Any suggestions that aren't too costly to keep me silky smooth?

Aveeno Positively Smooth moisturizer. After a few weeks of use it will reduce the rate of hair regrowth.

Nothing short of electolysis or Laser hair removal, which aren't inexpensive, will keep it off for any great length of time.

Anyone who can put Nair anywhere on their body save their legs I think is asking for trouble! Maybe it is just me, but I tried it on my arms and chest several years ago and I won't be trying that EVER again, damn stuff like to have eaten me up!!!!

Donna is correct as to the expensive and mostly permanent solution. Some of those with blonde or dare I say gray are pretty much left to the electrolysis route.

One of our sisters once said, that if anyone ever invents a permanent "at home" hair removal system, it will be a crossdresser!!!!

Well, back to the drawing board!

Donna,

Does the Aveeno lotion really reduce hair growth? I need all the help I can get!

It does for me, and a number of others who have tried it. YMMV

I can shave my face and not get the 5 o'clock shadow until the next morning. Took about 4 weeks to get that effect. The packaging says it could take 6 or 8 weeks.

My wife now uses it on her legs, and is very happy with the results.

Has anyone had any experience with sugaring/sugar waxing? is that an effective solution for hair growth?

Sugaring and waxing (and even threading, for the eyebrows) all involve yanking the hairs out of their follicles. Regrowth occurs within a few weeks, but the more you yank 'em all out, the slower/finer they regrow. The Aveeno is a Johnson&Johnson product made with soy extracts. Guess what else is chemically derived from soy extract? (psst! 17-beta estradiol, commonly known as estrogen.) It has a chemical basis that coupled with repeated epilation should greatly lessen regrowth over time. But it won't ever stop it altogether. :(

As to depilatories, I greatly prefer Veet to Nair. I have had lazer on my face and upper chest with great results. I am going to try the Aveeno, it sounds to good to be true, but I am way more then willing to try.

Hi, I haven't done any hair removal for awhile because it has been cold, but yesterday I pull out my epilator and removal the hair from my boobs, and I notice that the amount of hair was very minimal, which is a result of useing an epilator over the past 5 years
When the weather warms up a bit more I'll defur my legs for summer
Keeping them cupped comfortably.

I have tried both Nair and a product that is called "Spray and Shower" which you spray it on, then wait 10 minutes, then take a shower. With both, I still had to shave the same area, so they don't really work for me either.

I have seen many negitive reviews for the Aveeno lotion, but have seen many positive reviews of Biore Beyond Smooth Daily Facial Moisturizer - Normal/Oily Skin. There is a Biore Beyond Smooth Daily Facial Moisturizer - Normal/Dry Skin too.
Both the Aveeno and Biore lotions are about the same price. Both state they take up to 4-6 weeks to work.

I use MAGIC Shave over my entire body

make sure you follow the instructions ESPECIALLY

1.)USE COLD WATER
2.) DO NOT USE IT AFTER SWEATING
3.) DO NOT WASH YOUR FACE PRIOR TO USE
4.) OBSERVE THE TIME LIMITS

AFTER THAT YOU WILL see how smooth your skin gets
