Does anyone belong to NON-CD organizations or clubs?
Some people are compulsive gamblers. Some are compulsive drinkers. I am a compulsive joiner. I love to join clubs, and participate in organizations. I joined MENSA, and I participate in other service clubs. I want to start a club to support the arts in my community.
Do any of you belong to clubs and organizations, that are outside of the CD sphere? If so, which clubs, and why? I am interested.

At one time I belonged to a model railroad club and also a hiking club. It was because I liked model railroads and hiking. Also I belong to a couple of rehearsal bands (a club of musicians who play together but don't get many gigs)
I wouldn't call church a club but I belong because I think it helps my spiritual life.

I belong to a couple of model building orginizations, not individual clubs per se, as there seems to be not much interest in the hobby locally. Also I am a confirmed and life long Grognard, and play actual, hands-on, 3D combat simulations games with several people in my area. Guess I just can't give up playing with my toy soldiers, LOL. (not to be confused with on-line computer games played over the net.)

How about that? I am a "HAM", and I have belonged to many different Ham radio clubs. I am currently away from home on a work contract, so I am not QRV. Ham radio is dying, all of the kids who used to build radio sets, are all keyboarding!!JoAnnDallas wrote:I belong to the Mesquite, Tx Amateur Radio Club, Roanoke Valley Amateur Radio Club (VA), and the Glenside Color Computer Club (Ill), AFA, ARRL, QCWA, EC47 Society, and NSS. When I was living in WV, I was a member of the Greenbrier Model Railroad Club.

I am a member of a couple of local Goth 'cultural' organizations (SK Goth Club, Saskatoon Gothic Society) and PAVED Media Arts, a local non-commercial media production collective. Also World Transhumanist Organization (techno-progressive political activist group). Online clubs/orgs, seriously, I've lost count.
