Wearing and walking in high heels

Post by CJ »

Hi everyone,

One of the hardest things I had to learn when dressing up was how to wear and walk properly in high heels. I haven't seen any reference here on the forum to such a subject so I thought I'd get the ball (of your feet?) rolling by providing a link to a site that may be helpful in this regard.

If you have any tips or tricks of your own, you can post them here if you want. 8)

Love,
CJ

CJ there is noting I can add. Your posted link just about says it all. What I did to learn to walk in heels was dress up and go down into our basement and walk an walk and even at time run a little in one big circle around the basement. After a zillion laps I got the hang of it. However, I never did quite get the hang of zooming up and down the stairs in heels.

I always picture in my mind how the actress, Elisabeth Shue, in the movie Adventures In Babysitting almost skipped down the stairs in high heels in the beginning of the movie to see her boyfriend at the front door. I know I would break my neck if I ever tried doing that.

Hi Nancy,

 I did the same thing when I was younger--circle the basement in heels!

Want to see someone who can walk in heels? Check out Jennifer Tilly in the movie Bound.

CJ

Learning many things on the crossdressing journey has ben tough but heels was not one of them. Yes it took some research and trials to get sizes right butI have had few troubles walking in them, even stairs. Maybe a past life?

I love heels ("normal sizes, nothing > 3") and I fully know the female passion for different styles & colors.

Girls . . . here's how to walk in heels:

walk on your toes only! yep, just tip toe. do not place weight on your heels unless you're just standing. if you tip toe around, you'll find yourself less likely to be floored, not to mention look more lady-like. 8)

A very interesting subject. I have no problem with 3 1/2" or lower but add that extra 1/2" to a heel and I am uncomforable and do have a problem.
Just cann't seem to get that feel for a normal step which forces me to a shorter stride and the balls of my feet start hurting.Going to look up the link CJ posted. (--)

Hi all,

I love heels too. They make me feel really sexy!!! But, like Carol Ann, I have trouble walking on heels three inches or higher. Spike heels especially are a little scary. Maybe I just need practice. Right now, I'm wearing one inch heels.

hugs,

I like heels, but keep them low - 2 inches or under.

I'm 5 foot 11 and don't need to gain lots of height. I also don't want to aggrevate the arthritis in my knees and ankles. I don't walk long distances, only in the house, but I do go up and down stairs.

6 of my 7 pairs of femme shoes have heels over 1 inch. My wife's only pair of shoes with heels are 1 inch high.

That's my own personal view - to each her own. If you want to wear really high heels, can find them, and practice until you can walk in them, you go, girls!

I've never actually tried high heels. Now while I want to buy myself a pair, I don't think I should, as I wouldn't even be able to wear them outside of my apartment. But maybe someday. :)

Hi all,

Jadhe,

Even if you couldn't wear them outside your own home, you should try them at least once. Heels are such a rush! They lengthen your legs, giving you a very sexy look, and they enhance your pretty rump by forcing your hips forward and your shoulders back a little.

I'm about the same height as Jadeanne, so it's not that I absolutely need to wear heels; I just figure the "look" isn't as complete without them. Like many women, I find I can't wear heels for hours on end without starting to feel some discomfort, but it's not a discomfort that's any worse than that produced by, say, the tightness of a corset around my waist or of bra straps digging into my shoulders.

I now own close to two dozen pairs of shoes--only four of which are flat-heeled (so that I can wear them in boy mode too)--and a dozen pairs of boots. I'm no Imelda Marcos... but I'm getting there. I've always wanted to own black PVC thigh-high boots with lace-up fronts (for that "red-light district" look  ); that might be my next purchase. Either that or a decent camera. :)

Love,
CJ

How long is 5'11? I have no idea. I only know the metric system. :)

Well Jadhe if you convert the inches to centimeters you will get your answer. http://www.worldwidemetric.com/metcal.htm he is a head start Jadeanne is 71 inches tall.

So, according to that site, if I calculated correctly...I am about 70 inches, 5.9 feet...or 1.9 yards. :P

Sounds weird to me, I prefer the metric system. :)

Hi Jadhe,

In metric terms (the system we also use in Canada), my 5'11" converts to just over 1,80 meters tall. Your height (5'10") converts to just under 1,78 meters tall. A pair of 3" heels are about 7.5 centimeters high. And the sun is about 150,000,000 kilometers (93,000,000 miles) distant.

Hi,

Walking in heels has never been much a problem for me. I have always had good balance and I good eye to see how women walk in heels. I love the way heels make me feel and look, be it a skirt or jeans. Walking is not too hard if you watch the women who know how to walk in such and if you at first pay attention to how you are doing it.

The biggest thing males need to be concerned over is how we stand in heels. This is a dead give away that you are a cder if you stand in heels very much like you do as a guy. Females stand ( at ease ) differently than us. We are top heavy, they are bottom heavy. Females stand with their feet closer together and generally ( but not always ) resting with wieght on both feet. We usually are more spread apart in our stance and put too much weight on a back foot or we lean too much against something. Oh we also stand too much with our feet apart and arms folded up around our chest. You will note females do not do is often if at all.

So I recommend in your desire to walk more gracefully in heels, point and place toes in a short graceful way before you plant your heel, oh and not drag your feet like we do as guys, besides being a give away in heels you risk tripping and falling on yourself; you should also take care in how you stand dressed in heels and/or enfemme.
