I posted a little about this Saturday night in the "Talk" section, but I thought I should say a little something in an on-topic forum. I went shopping Saturday afternoon/evening. I worked Friday night, so I didn't want to go out until I'd had a little beauty rest.
I got up around 1530, cleaned myself up and shaved. It only took me an hour to get myself cleaned up, made up and dressed. That's got to be a new record for me. I think it's partly to do with my makeup. In March, I started buying a new product, Lancome's Absolue Replenishing Makeup. It's liquid foundation, something I haven't worn a lot of, being a Dermablend girl. It's great cover though, and it goes on smooth and fast. It ought to, at $57 for a little jar.
My outfit was simple, just a turquoise babydoll top with short sleeves and straight-leg jeans. I wore black flat sandals. I know, me in flats?!? My last two shopping trips in heels killed my feet. I guess I'm learning.
I wanted to go shopping, but first I ran into Walgreen's to have some photos processed. I think I pass better than I thought, because a few people wouldn't have given me a second glance if not for my voice. While I was waiting for the pictures, I drove over to CATO in Churchland Shopping Center. This is not a chain that I'm really familiar with, but I'll definitely be shopping there in the future. Most of their tops and bottoms are $20 or less, and they carry a little of everything - clothes, shoes, bags, lingerie and jewelry. I picked out a pink and black print tunic top, a yellow print halter with a handkerchief hem and a pair of denim capris, plus a ring and a pair of dangle earrings. The staff were very helpful, offering advice on the right sizes and styles.
I went back to Walgreen's to get my pictures. I thought the guy in Photo was going to give me grief, because he asked me where I was coming from. I told him it was no special occasion. He said OK, and didn't press me.
From there, I drove to Chesapeake Square Mall. I didn't have any specfic plans for things to buy. I just wandered around for a bit in the air conditioning and window-shopped. I did buy some nail polish at Trade Secret. I got two OPI colors, "Makes Men Blush" (a subtle pale pink) and "I'm Really Not a Waitress" (dark metallic red), and an Essie color, "Wicked" (another dark red). On my way out of the mall, I went into Waldenbooks and picked up two paperbacks.
On the way home, I stopped for Chinese takeout for my brother and me. I've been in there dressed up before, so I didn't have any problems with the staff, and the other customers hardly noticed me.
All in all, it was a nice way to spend an evening.

Fun, sounds like a nice and enjoyable relaxing evening. I love being out with not much of a plan and just going where ever.

I posted a few photos from my last few outings to Photobucket.
Here's my pedicure from around the time of my last shopping trip. The color is OPI Lincoln Park in the Dark.

Next up is my pedicure from last weekend, another OPI color called Lunch at the Delhi.

I'm not really a foot fetishist, but you wouldn't know it from the photos I take.
Then there's me dressed up to shop, last weekend. In person, the beard cover worked a lot better, but the flash reveals all...

Virginia, I hate to disappoint you, but I did go to Purgatory last month. It was their 6th anniversary party, and I needed to get out and show off a bit. Most of the time, I don't like attracting any undue attention, but sometimes I want to flaunt what I've got, and I don't care if people stare. Purgatory is one of the places I can do that.

It's funny in a way. I ran into an awful lot of people who thought I was someone else. If nothing else, it got me a lot of different people to talk to. I also tried to participate a little more. Here's me under the gentle ministrations of the lovely Djin.

It was all in fun, honestly. The pain was negligible, more like discomfort. I found it almost meditative.
On the flip side of things, I did dance for a bit. I discovered a new band by virtue of one of the DJs (Spider) playing one of their songs. I got the CD in the mail yesterday. They're a dance/electronic/trip-hop outfit called Cylab, and their cover of Nirvana's "Heart-Shaped Box" is what hooked me.
