Is it possible that the size of avatars can be increased so that we can load them onto the forum? For example: The first one I was using was removed by the staff (I guess because it showed a painting of a woman without a top on....thus perhaps consider nudity/porno by some). When I first joined, I could not find one which was small enough to load. So I used that one--a noted art painting.
Had the size been larger for avatars, I could have loaded one with a photo of me like many others have used for themselves. But those are 150 instead of 100 (35 k) and my computer doesn't have a program to make them go smaller without making them so small you can barely see them. So it would have been of great benefit to me if the size could have been a bit larger for us to use.
Just curious.
Thank you.

Although the avatar size can be set larger, it would incur a larger storage and bandwidth cost for the forum owner and slow down performance. Consider we have over 80,000 message posts and an avatar is displayed with most of those.
That being said, I agree with you. I wish we had a slightly larger avatar size to work with. Until then, I'm often pleasantly surprised how crisp some members' avatar photos look shrunk to fit within 100 x 100 pixels. I cropped and downsized an avatar from a full-size photo scan for Frances a few weeks ago. If you post a picture to the photo gallery you'd like to use and PM me about it, I may be able to help.
