Does anyone belong to NON-CD organizations or clubs?

General talk about CD/TGing and gender topics that aren't necessarily fun things we do while en femme, or for gender-driven discussions.

Clubs/memberships...

Post by Kendra Lynn »

Hello All: I give monthly to GREENPEACE, but they don't have meetings. On the other hand, the Sierra Club has sponsored "happy hours" at several different area restaurants and bars, and I attended one of those in full cheerleader drag (which is how I dress for protests, marches, etc etc). I also belong to a DC area GLBT science fiction/fantasy/comix group-- they have seen me in "drab" and "en femme" and refer to me with a femme name. I'll admit that sometimes the most fun I have as an "out" CDer is when I'm dressed as the cheerleader and talking with people at different events.
I give to several other non profit organizations, but most of those don't have regular meetings. Although I have showed "cheerleader" photos at various gatherings.
I will say this-- turning up at an event as the "hippie cheerleader" may be easier than just coming in a nice "femme" outfit. Although the "cheerleader" outfit can be a distraction, it still may be viewed as a "costume," and people may or may not realize that I am a CDer. If I showed up in a casual, but "nice" femme outfit, more explanations and discussions would probably occur, since it would then be clear than I was doing more than just appearing at public events as the "hippie cheerleader" character.
This is probably tangential to the main thread here, but I have met gg's at some events who are either: not turned off by CDing, are curious, or...??
Has anyone else had experiences like that?
that's all for now.
Peace'n'luv-- Kendra Lynn ("hippie cheerleader").

I have been a member of many Faire guilds and other clubs. In high school was a member of the FFA, JROTC, and a short lived Native American club that I was the Chairman of.

Yes, I belong to the Sons of Confederate Veterans because of my love for history and my ancestry. Pvt. Aaron Flatt who served honroably with the 19th Texas Cavalry.

(None of my relatives supported slavery but believed VERY STRONGLY IN STATES RIGHTS which is what it TRULY WAS ABOUT! I also oppose slavery of ANY KIND!)

(My website about my ancestors and convictions upon this topic.)

I also belong to Toastmasters Club locally.

We (wife and I) belong to three horse trail riding/camping/bridal trail maintence clubs.
Ham radio is dying, all of the kids who used to build radio sets, are all keyboarding!!
Oh I think the magic is gone too. It used to be something special to be able to communicate beyond your own town. Now everybody does it with an itty bitty cell phone.

I'm not currently active but I've held the same call sign for 45 years. One of these days I'll get an antenna up but I think the bands are pretty dead these days. At least they were the last time I did get active about ten years ago.

Hi all,

Well, not so much now 'cause I don't really have the time anymore, but, at one time or another, I've belonged to, and/or volunteered for, the following groups or organizations:

- the SPCA (walking dogs and cleaning cages)
- the Animal Rescue Network (campaigning and promotion)
- Scouts Canada (years ago, I was a Boy Scout; yes, laugh if you must!)
- a west coast Association for Street Kids (artwork, fundraising, counselling)
- my university's Student Safety Patrol (volunteer patroller and women's safety counsellor)
- a now-defunct local foundation whose mission was to organize yearly conferences on subjects relating to the intersection between mental health and spirituality or religion (on the board of directors).

Probably a few others I don't remember. This is what happens when you're a rolling stone. I participate when and where I can in stuff I'm passionate about but these days, well, the energy's just not there as much. So I come to the forum instead!

Love,
CJ
