Finally! An angel!

Finally, in 1998, I met the woman of my dreams in more ways than one. My fourth and final wife accepted what I wanted to do. Once Joy was assured that I did not want to actually change my gender with surgery, she supported me completely and helped plan and then participated in my adventure.
It began with a few tentative trips to Big Bear Lake and Thousand Oaks where we knew no one, trying out my femininity and my courage. After a waiter in Big Bear called us "ladies" and said "ma'am" a half-dozen times, we felt we were ready for a real test under battle conditions.
I was a member of the Magic Castle at that time. So, we decided I would attend the annual Halloween gala as a woman. If anyone figured it out, we could just accept praise for good costuming. We ordered a lovely, two piece black beaded evening dress from Lane Bryant and had my already long hair styled by a young girl at Lydia's, a local store which catered to transvestites and drag queens. In a last minute burst of courage, Joy took me to her nail shop to be outfitted with long, red acrylic nails, telling the girl what we were doing, of course.

That night, at the Halloween Party, the most incredible thing happened. Everyone we encountered thought I was really a woman, asking me why I didn't come in costume. Since we told the front desk that we were using a pass given us by Frank Cleve, they thought nothing of it because a pass is one of the few ways to enter the Magic Castle. We had a wonderful evening, saw some terrific magic. Billy McCombs hit on us both. (He was, at that time, in his Eighties and charming.) Downstairs, in the private room reserved for magicians, we actually danced with a couple of guys. As the valet rushed off to get our car, Joy said, "Can you believe this? You are totally convincing, honey. Everyone thought you were a real woman."
We talked for hours that night about my dreams, her dreams, our future and our life. Finally, Joy said, "I have a terrific idea. Since next Friday is your last day at Hollywood Magic, why don't you crank up your Internet business, stay home, and be a girl for a while." My elation was real.
In years since, Joy has told me repeatedly that my feminine traits are much of why she loves me more than she has ever loved another human being. As recently as yesterday, I asked her "Does it bother you to come home and I'm wearing a skirt and blouse and earrings?" "Not a bit," she says. "I know your heart and I love you."

That is truly wonderful you now have a supporting partner in life and you both seem so happy. I wish you the best in all you desire and need.

Thanks everyone. Don't hate me because I found her. Like many of you, I put in 40 years of sorrow, bad marriages and longing before I finally found the right woman. The only smart thing I did was keep trying.

Oh how well I can relate to your wifes feelings, mine told me a long time ago I was still the same man she married no matter what cloths I was wearing.
The right women always makes our life wonderful.
