Some of you have industrial size balls and need a tighter gaff
Awesome I say and thanks for the pick me up. I don't think I am quite that comfortable yet but wish to be.
I still hide in the shadows and am newly outed to my spouse. Now she knows we have shopped together and I take the items to the mens section to try them on. I saw a purse I liked and she dropped it in the basket, I said to her are we going out?
So I think once my look is right we will go out on a date with me dressed (im so scarred)

I used to find it more difficult (or embarrasing) to buy panties than other lingerie. Of course, I was only buying one bra or slip at a time while women were coming to the register with a dozen panties of varying dantiness (or daring) and bright colors. I always ended up with 3-pack Hanes. which is pretty innocuous. Since then I've settled on Vanity Fair (in various colors) which fit well and can be ordered as cheaply by mail as in a store, although I'd kill to have a few more pair of sky blue, which seem to have been discontinued.

It's nice to see some old threads being resurrected.
Usually no one says anything. However I find that asking a couple of questions from a sales assistant or another shopper sometimes puts everyone, especially me, at ease.
I've bought a lot of clothes over the years for my wife and daughters. In particular when buying for my daughters it is immediately obvious that the clothes are not for me. I find that most women are somewhat touched if I ask their opinion about something, and I have learned a fair amount from doing so.
One time I had a sales assistant very pleasantly ask did I realize that the bras I was buying were not going to fit me. (They needed an extender, which I knew) I replied that I was sure they wouldn't and the people in back of me laughed when they heard this and agreed. It was an entirely comfortable moment. However I have always wondered if she was joking or being truly helpful, and if she was being helpful, was it because she had a friend who does this or was just being a good saleslady. The point being, when someone says something to us, it can be very difficult to know why they are saying what they are.
One other time at Vickies I asked to try on a bra, thinking that it was time I had someone help me figure out sizing. It was just before Halloween and I told them it was for a costume. The lady was very matter of fact and went into the dressing room to see if there was anyone else there that would be bothered by the presense of a man. It all seemed reasonable to me, but it made me think that in a busy mall that they need to be concerned about the comfort level of all their customers, not just me. I also did the same thing at Bare Neccesities and they were far more pleasant and helpful, maybe because it was a smaller store and not in a mall. They found the whole thing very humorous but in a pleasant vein and it made me realize that I needed to allow them their own reaction. I went back a couple days later on Halloween and they were happy to see me and spent a pleasant few minutes admiring my costume. I've been to BN a couple of other times, shopping for both myself and my wife and found them to be very pleasant.

I have found that shopping at the same store can be a good thing. I try to shop on the days when the SA's are ones that I have gotten to know and seem to have an understanding for what fits and what my tastes are. In fact it is surprising how accommodating people become once they get to know you. The woman who usually took care of me retired and the reaction from her replacement the first time I stopped by to shop was one of , well let's tell the truth disgust, yet after several stops back to the store she became much more helpful and personable. To be honest, I just hate breaking in new people, familiarity certainly reduces the apprehension.

I have probably been liucky in that I have only ever received positive comments when buying lingerie.
A few years ago I was in a top store in London wating to be served when an assistant asked me If I had all that I needed. I told her yes and then she surprised me by syaing that if I wanted to try anything on it would be ok to use the changing room.
I was too shy to take up the offer but she seemed very genuin and I thanked her for her concern.

I never worry about it
I just go shopping for whatever I want without giving it much thought. I go right into the changing rooms and try things on, then go to the register. I am quite open and happy about wearing feminine clothing, and don't care that people know.
I guess I feel that it is natural and not something to be self conscious about.

You're only as feminine as you feel.

True
I find as I get older, I really don't give a damn what others think. Life is short, and as we get older, we realize this even more. I figure, I've wasted enough time worrying about what others think and denying how I feel. Why live the last of my life as unhappy as the beginning?Angela wrote:One of the benefits of getting older is that I have absolutely no embarrassment about buying underwear. Also I won't buy a dress, a skirt or shoes without trying them. Now if only I could be 18 again with the same confidence about myself.

Exactly how I feel
I buy what I want. It's not hurting anyone. If you don't like my fashion choices your call.

shopping en drab
I agree with Melody.. I have cut out the lying and conjured up stories as to why I am buying womans things and instead say they are for me. I am always treated nicely and helped. In fact helped more than the women on may occasions. My advice to those of you who are embarrassed to purchase womans things is to get over it and join the group of us. Believe me, There are more of us out there buying womans clothes than you think

Buying panties and womens
These days I think that I have developed a rather thick skin when it comes to buying any women's things I just say they are for me and particularly when shirts, blouses and tops is simply they fit better than the male counterparts (and all so look better).
A little anecdote that when I was buy one of my last guy shirts, the salesman measured my chest (bust) and kept say that is a very big chest that you have, I didn't tell him that there a couple of petty well developed tits under the skirt

Keeping them cupped comfortably.

I was at Kohl's last night doing some some last minute Christmas shopping. While standing in the checkout line, a female customer walked by and commented on the Vanity Fair panties I was holding. She said "Oh, she'll love those." I smiled and said "These are for me." I even held them up to my waist as I said it. It got a good laugh, not only from her, but everyone in line as well.
