Not coping well

Post by Charlene »

I got a little depressed at Christmas and it seems to be going down hill from there. It started with my wieght gain and has just gotten worse and I really have no idea why.
I don't dress at all anymore and I do realize that when I feel good I dress up.

There is so much more but I can't just let it out.
I am what I am, and that's all that I am.

People get depressed around the holidays for many different reasons. However, if you think this is more than just a "blue funk", then it might not be a bad idea to seek some professional help. I hope you feel better soon, good luck!

I concur with Lisa. See your doctor. Medical options exist . . . there is no need to suffer depression these days. People with severe depression are often that way because they didn't seek help. Good luck.

There's nothing wrong with little therapy. When my life was going downhill, I used to see one myself. Sometimes you just need a professional 'stranger' to ask the right questions, and then listen everything you have to say. :)

Hi Charlene :) , Now girl you cann't let a little weight get you down. Since I retired and flopped in front of the TV I have gotten a beer belly and look like I'm 8 months pregent :? Like you I too am very down about my figure but am trying to get it under control. My wife has helped me so much to over come and has showed me ways to wear my cloths as to not look so fat.. :? Believe me it works, so you go girl and put on those cloths and be the lady you want. Happyness brings a smile to your face and a smile will make you feel better. (--) @@9@@ Carol Ann

Hi Charlene,

I'm sorry you're not feeling well. :(

Is there anything else going on that you want to talk about? Is there another reason for the weight gain?

I've been thinking about my life and I've come to the conclusion that I'm not in control. I made a few personal mistakes and now it will take time before I get my control back.
I'm sure you all think that one is always master of mistress of their own life but there are times when that is not so. This is one of those times for me. It 's finanical right now but I'm sure it will work it's self out. It may take several years. This I'm not happy with.

In the mean time I have someone dumping their problems on me and this has gotten me down so much that it's affected relationships with the people in the house I live in.

I'm really quite mixed up right now in all aspects of my life.
I am what I am, and that's all that I am.

Hi Charlene,

Sorry to hear you've been flying low lately. As you can see from the posts here, and as Beauty said, if there's ever anything you want to talk about or share, we're all ears. We may not be able to help you resolve whatever's ailing you right now, but sometimes a (virtual) shoulder to lean on helps distribute the load.

Take care of yourself, girl. :|

Oh. :( I'm sorry. :: hug ::

There is one bright spot about what you said. The bonus is it was in your first sentence. You realized you're not in control. =D> Then you said you will get it back. =D>

Financial trouble sucks, but your positivity even when feeling this down is impressive. In life you're only worth your actions. This post was huge and filled with acceptance, positvity, and determination to not lose this struggle we call life. Those are all positive actions.

You may be mixed up, but I think you're more together than some people who think they have it all together.

Feel free to lean on me if you need to vent or just talk.

You'll be ok, you said so yourself.

Hi, it's been awhile since I've posted and I thought I should let you all know that I'm doing OK. I haven't cross-dressed for quite awhile now but I'm not purging.
Thanks S. Lisa Smith for your e-mail. It helped me alot.
Thanks Beauty, your support means alot.

I've reall buried myself in my work and have been keeping as busy as possible.
Hopefully I'll feel better about my self soon and start posting regularly.

Thanks everyone,

Charlene

You're welcome Charlene,

Good for you for not purging (thanks Lisa!)

Part of us, I'm realizing, has a phase we go through from time to time when we really don't want to dress. It could be guilt, stress from other things, loneliness, depression, or anything. I'm saying this because I think what you're saying is normal. Hopefully things will turn around soon.

I'm a summer/fall/winter CD'r. As springs comes in I tend to dress less, but I kind of start picking up in about May. It's weird. :)

Thanks for the update! :)

I don't know that I have anything to offer to help, but I still feel a bit bad that I didn't see you first post.

I'm glad you came back here though. I think that shows how well you are actually doing. Also the fact that you didn't purge.

Sounds like you still have some things to work out. But, from your posts I get the sense that you are strong enough to make it. The counseling help suggested can be a real nice thing also.

I'm also very glad you got some personal inspiration/help/advice from some members here. We certainly have a great group of people to "be" with.

Hey Charlene, and everyone,

I sometimes find happiness in the most simple things. Just sitting in a porch swing or on a park bench is great therapy. I do find busying myself with the day to day stuff has a slight therapeutic value, but my greatest comfort comes from my stereo. (and several boxes of CD's and Tapes)

These things i mention because people sometimes overlook nature's unsophisticated brilliance. There is such beauty in the world, pure and meaningful without complexity.

And let's face it, the beauty of nature is enough to melt any frown that I've ever had.

"To perceive its glory is to nurture the soul."
 Didn't mean to wax rhapsodic...just trying to cheer you up :)

Or maybe what you need is just a great big (--)

Love,
Kyra
