Photo Gallery - Is there a message here? - Resolved

Post by Lydia »

Not only am I locked out of the photo gallery, but now almost every time I open the forum, I have to log in. Is there a message here? Have I been a bad girl?

Hugs,

Lydia

Lydia,

I don't know much about it, but our "new" software administrator and SL also have tried to tell our members that AOL is the problem! They evidently have problems with the term "crossdresser" and they cause problems for those who have AOL. Caith is working on it, but either change your web browser or you will have to wait and see if it can be fixed!

I would recommend contacting Caith if you are having problems, but it appears that when all is said and done, its AOL!

Good luck!

Love ya,

Virginia

I don't use AOL here or at work, but have a problem getting logged in to the Gallery too.

I have Verizon here.

Caith is working on it.

Not so. I tried on two different computers, totally independent of AOL, and used Firefox and IE. Same problem with login and photo gallery.

Just to complicate matters, I logged off. Had to reboot after installing a new anti-virus program. Came back here, and it automatically logged me in.

Computers have a mind of their own.

Lydia, I'm sorry to hear about your difficulties, but glad to hear it was an ornery, obstreperous, obstinate computer thing. I promise I'll be taking a look at the photo gallery logins during this long holiday weekend. Anita and DonnaT reported similar issues, and I PM'ed everyone after applying one patch earlier this week.

Everyone please be certain to review the Announcements forum as I've posted a message this week about securing our member's listing and individual user profiles.

I believe we've successfully resolved the Photo Gallery login issue. Friday evening I installed an update to the Photo Gallery's integration with the forum. Since then, three of three users previously reporting the problem have successfully avoided the issue. Thank you all for your patience while I researched and located a resolution for this problem!

Still not able to get into the photo gallery even though I ATE ALL MY COOKIES and CLEANED UP MY CACHE afterwards like a good girl.

For mommy used to always tell me: "Eat your cookies and clean up your cache afterwards...."

It keeps telling me to log in and sending me back to do so when I am already logged in. A vicious circle.

Could be a conflict with your service provide and Internet Explorer.

I was having problems at work going through IE (new beta version). The ISP is Verizon. When I hit the submit button in a reply it would give me an "invalid session". I'd have to hit the submit button multiple times to get the reply to post.

Also when I selected the "View posts since last visit" feature, I'd get a response indicating that there were no new posts.

I have Verizon at home, but not the new beta version of IE, and there have been no issues since Caith's fix.

Today, I tried going through AOL here at work, leaving IE off, and everything works fine.

Testing with IE on, but still going through AOL.

New posts dissapeared, but only had to hit the submit button once.

I don't use IE. My service provider is my cable company SUDDENLINK who I understand used to be Cox cable.

I have a 2007 IMac and use Netscape. I find it is best for all the things I want to do as it offers me more variety and choices to select from when on the internet.

Just a word of unsolicited advice:

Stay away from AOL version 10 (=AOL Desktop) - it is buggy, big, and slow. Even their own techsupport denounces it.

Otherwise (contrary to SL), AOL works fine for me. I am using it with Verizon broadband.

Hugs.

I've long ago given my opinion about AOL . . . and the nicest thing I can say about AOL is that it's an obnoxious piece of software that I wouldn't use if given to me free of charge and it was the only software available. [-(
