Memorable Outings

Post by Deidre Taylor »

As I read all the outings here I think back to the early days when I first exited the closet, Strange how you alweays remember the first time out the door, even the first time in a store but there are other memorable times as well. One that comes to mind for me was the first time I went to the laundry mat en femme to do a load of my girlie clothes :) .

Anyone else havbe any such times in their life?

I guess that its hard to forget the heart stopping moment of the first time you a re found out. The butterflies in the stomach, your breath stopping, and then the anxious moments of " Oh my gosh what am I going to do now." After the first time you realize that you will survive and the anxiety gradually
decreases, to the point that maybe you become comfortable. But, when you look back its like the first kiss, nothing is more memorable.

Yes - the first outing is memorable. I remember it vividly - not counting occasional quick peeks out the front door.

Paula (my SO) and I were in Ft. Lauderdale for a few days. I got dressed at the hotel one evening and we went to dinner together. I have no recollection what I ate - I was too excited. We were nicely served and referred to as "ladies".

However, the next morning at breakfast I was in male mode, and we had the same waiter as the night before. If he recognized me, he made no sign. I still wonder.

Subsequent outings were equally fun, but not as memorable as the first.

Hugs,

Lydia

Yes Lydia the first outings are very memorable, my "official" debut was at a local CD club meeting although I had done the peeks you mention however I have to agree with Deidre here. To me some of my fondest memories of establishing my identity as Karen was in the simple everyday tasks. One that comes to mind vividly was my first foray grocery shopping as Karen. Armed with my debit card in Karen's name and dressed in a simple pair of ladies jeans and a sweater with tennis shoes on I felt so feminine I can't describe it. There is a lot to be said about going out to the clubs and the like but the ordinary tasks are what make the woman.

How I remember that first step outside as Jennifer. It was a few days before Halloween 2002.I was still married and my wife and freind Bobbi Williams had convinced me to get a makeover and attend the T.G I .C halloween party as Jennifer.I drove to the place in male mode. When it was my turn I changed into a light Blue button down shirt and a knee length knit skirt.Long story short,it was time to go and the door opened,I took one step out onto a street full of people and my heart leaped into my throat and stayed there all night.I will never forget that one.

I can remember that first foray into the semi-public Jennifer as it was to a local CD club meeting too. I had made friends online with another girl from the area, this was back in the old AOL days, and she finally convinced me to take that step. It was November so it was already dark out as I took those first steps out of the house to the garage. I swear my knees were knocking and I thought I was going to faint. Amazing how now I feel more self conxcious in male drab.

I had two first outings. The first one was when I attended HEF2006. This was my first CD outing, since everyone knew what and who we were. It did not matter if you passed or not. I'm still amazed that everyone, staff and guest alike treated us as women even knowing we were not. I fully believe that a CD convention is a good place for a first timer to go public. You can walk around fully dressed and know that it does not matter that you do or do not pass. You can just relax, be your self, and enjoy the fun.

My first outing where no one knew I was a CD and where I wanted to pass as a woman was when I finished filling up the old SUV one evening and then walking into the station store and bought a bottle of water. I went solo, no other CDer with me. Just me and the world.

filling up the old SUV
How funny. I still remember, almost running out of gas, I had this terrible wig on, a bit of a whisker shadow, and the darned pump would not take a debit card. I had to go into the store and pay. One guy looked at me squarely and smiled knowingly. I had the rookie 'long curly wig' on. Later i threw that one away!

Oh the memory of it all. My only wish now is to go out with another girl sometime. Currently I go out on my own. I would love a group or a function to go to.

Carla......Carol Ann is right. I joined the local Tri-Ess chapter. Not only do we have a monthly meeting, but durn the month we do other things. One day we had a after hours shopping spree at a local "Dress Barn". Just us sisters and two SA's. We all had a great time, the store make a ton of money, and the two SA's had a great time helping all of us. later they sent an email asking when we were going to schedule another after hours visit. Twice a month some of my sisters get together at a Tea Room for lunch and then go to a moive afterwards. Now that it is summertime, a couple of sisters have expressed interest in having a pool party at their house one weekend. That should be a lot of fun.

So find a local group.

Well just outed I can tell you I was scared! I have been married for 15 years and for 15 years I hid this from her. She knows now and supports me more than I ever imagined. She bought me a purse. For my birthday she gave ladies underwear.
I have been out for over a year already WOW!

JoAnn and Carol,

I think you are right. I looked into Tri-Ess some time ago and none in my area. The only thing I can really think of is the local Gay Lesbian bar, but that is not really what I want to attend. Besides, one of my wife's co workers is gay and knows our car (mustang gt convertible) so going there, even if he didn't recognize me, he would know the car and frequents the pub. My wife fears me being bi or gay when I dress, so that is not a solution.

So I by myself.

Congrats! I love it when my wife brings me something home that is feminine. Or we go out shopping together. I'm so happy for you.
