I only own a couple of slips because I don't wear dresses (although I have one I got at a thrift shop with enough show-through that a slip is definitely necessary!). As has been observed, they can be hot on top of a bra, but the feeling is soooo nice, better than just a camisole.

Well, those "Flare-leg Panties" look like a longer and narrower tap pant, and I don't see why those couldn't work just as well as the tap pants.

What I was actually referring to, though, is something like the Lauren Silva Tap Pants, the Intimo Tap Pants, or even the Gilligan O'Malley Luxe Cami and Tap Pants.

I used to wear slips, but rarely do anymore. I do like the feel of them, but I also like the feel of the material of a skirt or dress. Some of my better dresses come with a built in lining, I like those. I only use a slip if something is see through with light behind it.

Slips seem to be a thing of the past manily worn by us "odl" ladies. If a skirt is unlined and you could see through it or it clings I wear a slip, if not I don't. I think it is much a matter of preference as anything.

chortle - why yes, there are times and dresses which could use a slip (geez I hate em...) - but really, I think you better not mention it - dunno that any woman would take it kindly from a co-worker...

Then again, I was sitting on the steps to a shop last week, watching the crowd walk by, and these two girls had on little tissue-y dresses - really cute, except it was about 99 degrees and humid and the dresses were clinging to their uhm... uh... lower frontal parts. Very clearly defined they were. Of course, they had tried them in the privacy of an air-conditioned dressing room where they fell properly and all...

While on a trip my wife was wearing a light green cotton dress. When she stepped in front of the window in our hotel room you could see right thru it. Well, she didn't bring a slip along but I had an ivory chemise that I had brought to sleep in. It was a little big for her, but with a couple of strap adjustments, it worked just fine.

Willie I see this with a lot of the dresses and skirts as most GG's do not wear slips any more. And many of the lighter summer dresses and skirts are not lined.

I think a good rule of thumb is to have a couple of half slips handy for use when the skirt isnt lined and forget when it is lined. A slip is needed to allow the skirt not to gap up due to static, heat, and dampness.

There's no rule I know of that you have to wear a slip under your dress or skirt. I just love wearing them because they're so feminine.
