My SO flipped out again! Can't get the hint.

General talk about CD/TGing and gender topics that aren't necessarily fun things we do while en femme, or for gender-driven discussions.

MsJoann I do believe that is a fairly common defensive gut reaction on her part. They can not deal with it so put it down in any way they can.

The trick is this, Joann: seek to establish a line of communication with your wife that is at least healthy and honest enough for the two of you to determine whether or not the "marital accommodations" mentioned above can include the possibility of her accepting this part of who you are or if, on the other hand, your transgenderedness (and your wife's unwillingness or inability to accept that transgenderedness) will be the basis for an irreconcilable difference. In a situation where WYSIWYG is well-nigh impossible, there's no shame in admitting that, as things turn out, we're often faced with irreconcilable differences.
CJ, I quoted what seems to be the heart of your reply, just for a reference, but the whole thing is a work of art. Good work, gal! You've put a lot of information into a concise statement. It should go into a sticky.

Whether your wife is right or not, I agree with Kimberly that a statement like that can be used to punish the TG woman. My girlfriend's daughter has made similar statements. I know how angry she is about the situation, and a statement like that one seems to be more about expressing anger than anything else.

It may be very hard for her to say, "Here's some suggestions on how to improve your look"; in fact, it may be impossible for her to say that at this point. She's entitled to her opinion about it, whether spoken or unspoken, but it is not very helpful to just put it out there as a blanket statement.

Hi all,

I've also been told that I'd "make an ugly woman" (verbatim)... to which I replied that it wasn't my hope nor intention to make a beautiful woman but, rather, just a woman. Period. Beauty may very well be in the eye of the beholder but ugliness is in the eye of the judgemental moron. People should remove the lipstick tube from their own eye before trying to remove the fleck of mascara from their neighbour's.

Thanks for the compliment, Anita, but, really, this is a lesson that was rammed home to me by Elizabeth's hard-won wisdom and experience and often beautifully expressed by Jeannie in her own witty idiom. Life is short, ladies. Carpe diem!

Love,
CJ

I remember a press mechanic telling me back in '74 that "Printers are whacky people". LOL! (he was right)
Thank you for explaining Jeannie to us. ..|/- The fog is beginning to clear........

Best of luck Joann. I think CJ summed it up pretty well. Lots of food for thought there and hopefully something that will help in your situation. Stay patient with her and keep that communication going. Best of luck!

She's been pretty cool lately and more concerned about the brain scan I had done today. When she called to see what had happened, I told her the images showed that there was an earring embedded in the cerebellum.
I was wondering where that damned thing got lost!

Here's my classic Christopher Lloyd/"One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" moment in reaction to the above:

     ...

You're definitely a keeper, Joann! I hope the scan was not for anything too serious, though; please take good care of yourself.
