Are women getting bigger

General talk about CD/TGing and gender topics that aren't necessarily fun things we do while en femme, or for gender-driven discussions.

Are women getting bigger

Post by JoAnnDallas »

I saw on TV the other night. It was a show about the underware industry.

1991 - The average woman wore a size 34B bra
2006 The average woman wore a size 38C bra.

Doing some extrapolation I came up with

1991 - The average woman wore a size 10 dress
2006 - The average woman wore a size 14 dress

Don't know about 1991 as I was still in the closet wearing what I could 'borrow' but I've dropped 2 dress sizes since 2006 from 16 to 12 (UK sizes that is :) ) but then I would hardly call myself an average woman

The average American womqn is getting heavier, thus the bigger dress size, and fat accumulated in the bust area. The average height has dropped 2: since 1980, due to the influx of smaller foreign women.

It's not just the women getting bigger.

I read somewhere where seats in train stations and bus terminals are being redesigned for bigger posteriors.

Agreed in general the US population is over weight, me included. But in overall size and bone structure too. More and more women are 5,11 or taller.

Anyone watch So You Think You Can Dance? Cat Deeley WOW she is taller that everyone, granted she is wearing heels but she towers over the women.

Look around WalyWorld and I see alot of women taller than me (I am 5'11)

I take notice to taller women due to what they are wearing and how they pull it off and see if I can do it too
I have been out for over a year already WOW!

If you dont think women are bigger, go to Disney World and you will be shocked. As I buy womens dresses and skirts I am fitting into size 12's when they used to be 16's. As far as tall goes, I am 6'3 and can now go out dressed. I couldnt do that years ago because all women were under 5'7" ,, now they are close to 6'0. (so its only a couple of inches when it used to be close to a foot difference.

Give it a couple of years and you will be 5 foot 2

Gravity is a bitch. You would have once also worn a smaller cup size for the same reason :P

I think as a whole, both sexes are getting bigger. I also think Michigan has
one of the biggest weight problems. I've always attributed that to the shorter
summers. I have lived down south in Texas for 10 yrs. and often thought the longer the "short's" season is, the more people concern themselves with their body image. I'm not trying to offend anyone here, and I'm not an expert, just what I have observed.
I should disclose that I have never had a weight issue other than how I can't gain any. CarlyAnn has been trying to put a few pounds on me for 10 years. In a strong wind I am in danger of becoming airborne.
Having said that, I am very sympathetic to those who do have a problem losing weight.

That's supposedly how Sister Bertrille, in "the Flying Nun" was able to fly, she was so light the "wings" on her headpiece lifted her off the ground.

It would make a good Halloween costume maybe.

I understand that in 1947 the average woman's waist size in the UK was 25" now its 33" and still climbing. I expect similar has happened in the USA.

I have been the same size since I was 19 which is rather more than 30 years and I have a natural 30" waist. I wear UK size 14 clothes (US12) which is pretty average I think.

Are Women getting bigger?
Look at history..
In the Roman times.. They loved Women who were like Wasps.. Due to the IDEAL..
In the Middle ages.. They wanted Plump Women because they bore healthier children..
1800's .. They just wanted HEALTHY Women to Settle down with.. Actually Most people were very small compared to the Roman times..
NOWadays.. ANYTHING GOES! And we are ALL Sizes..
My 2cents..

If those are stats for the average woman, then you should do a workup on crossover sizes for men seeing as we are all men under all the feminine finery. I determined that I wore a woman's size 12 in 1975 when I rescued several dresses and skirts from a Goodwill box that my mother in law gave me to take to the donation center.

At that time she wore a 36C bra and size 6 panties (the exact same sizes I wore) and her 12 dresses and skirts fit me like they were made for me. Now I don't know if women are getting bigger or if manufacturers are making sizes bigger but my body mass hasen't changed much since then. I still look for size 12 clothes but I have some shorts that are size 9 and another pair size 11 that fit me the same. The skirt I'm wearing now is a size 10 and I also have some 11's that fit the same as the 12 did in 1975.

So Jo Ann, I don't want to debunk your figures but if women are bigger now I think that a size 12 by today's standards would fit me like a tent.

Luv and Hugs, Jill
