I will be working in the Denver area for the next 6 months or so. Anyone have suggestions for fun things to do? How is the CD / TG climate? I'll be digging around the internet for info, but if there is anyone here from the area, it would be nice to hear from you.

While SL and I were out there for the Bench Press Nationals, we found a club called "TRACKS." Because of the time factor we did not get to actually go, but drove by it and it looks from the outside like a nice place. Look up the address and I think MapQuest can give you directions. We had a great time out there. We got to meet Kyra and her SO they are such a nice couple. Kyra was going to meet us at Tracks, but the meet when longer than planned so that did not work out. She has not been on the forum for a while however. You might want to PM her to see if she is checking her messages.
We went up to Pike's Peak! So neat! You can drive or take the "Tram." We also drove to the Rocky Mountain National Park and that was worth seeing also. Especially having the car surrounded by elk!!!
Have fun, there is a lot to see in the area.

Hi, Sylvia -
There is also a Tri-Ess group that meets in Denver once a month, and Kyra usually attends . . . afterwards, they gravitate to Tracks. They had their get-together that Friday while we were in town, but unfortunately we were not able to attend.
Kyra and Amber? What can I say but that they are such beautiful people, and we had a wonderful, albeit lunch-date brief, visit. I wish we had a lot more time to get to know each other, but we'll get together again (we just don't know when!).
RMNP and Pike's Peak . . . definite places to visit while you're there. Be aware, however, that part of RMNP is closed off in winter due to the snow, best to see it as soon as you're able. We were not able to visit the entire park due to road closure, and that was in November.
If you have blocks of free time (ie, several days), do make trips to see Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP, Mesa Verde NP, and the towns of Durango, Silverton, and especially Ouray . . . by way of driving the Million Mile Highway, of course! Ouray is beautiful, a little town surrounded by mountains with a hot springs/pool that is open to the public (for a nominal fee).
I believe we have several other members in the greater Denver area, and definitely within the state of Colorado (Alana, Paulie, Colette, Jill S, Brianna, and Kristen, to name a few).

Hi Sylvia,
Silver Lady gave several good suggestions. Definitely Rocky Mtn. NP, Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP, etc. If you're into gambling/casinos there's the Central City/Black Hawk area.
I can't speak for CD/TG friendliness in the Denver area, since I'm on the West Slope (west of the continental divide) and don't get to Denver very often. As SL mentioned there is the Tri-Ess chapter and I believe at least one other TG support group (don't remember the name, though). Some of the East Slope ladies (Kyra, Kristen, etal.) may have better information.
I'm not into clubs so can't speak for anything like that.
I would suggest the Denver Art Museum and the Museum of Natural History if such is of interest to you.
Definitely go to the mountains, not the foothills just west of Denver. I gathered that you are already in Denver so Trail Ridge Road would be good. If I remember right it's part of Rocky Mtn NP and should be open until some time in October or November. Silverton and Ouray are good!
Aspen, Vail, and Glenwood Springs might be worth a visit, though they are somewhat touristy. Glenwood also has hot springs. The Durango/Silverton narrow gauge railroad trip would be nice, but it is very popular and I don't know if you can get tickets on short notice.
Definitely do some internet searchs on things to do and see in Colorado.
There is a lot out there, particularly open space. In September, a trip into the mountains can be very colorful with the leaves turning various shades of yellow, orange, and red.
I hope you enjoy your time in Colorful Colorado!
Love,
Alana
