Has CDing turned you into a "night owl"?

Post by CJ »

Hi all,

After having read a beautiful little piece in another thread where Absaroka mentions a "sharing of secrets with the night" as part of the expression of a feminine side (and I, too, think the feminine is associated with the night somehow), I started wondering how many of us here have at least some nocturnal habits that may be related (or even partly related) to our CDing.

Is it that "femme time" is associated with quiet time? Is it that our CDing activities can only be done under cover of night, when the rest of the world is sleeping? Is it a matter, then, of opportunities? or of inclination? or what?

Has CDing turned you into a "night owl"?

I'll answer first by saying that I've always had a "night owl" streak in me. Like Absaroka, I used to wander the city at night (not "dressed up"), just to witness and to come to appreciate the "non-traditional" folks who peopled the city when the daily hub-bub ceased. I guess I felt an affinity with the lonely wanderers and solitary walkers I crossed paths with. I got to see that there is, indeed, a whole other world here, when you gaze at the underbelly of the beast. I was part of that underworld when I did, at last, go out "en femme," something I usually do (or did) at night rather than during the day. The people I rubbed shoulders with in the night were never the type to judge me. But maybe this is due not to the fact that they're more in touch with the feminine in themselves as it is that they're out of touch with the world around them. But who am I to judge, right?

I don't "femme" much these days but I still tend to associate my crossdressing preoccupations (going on the forum, the occasional partial dressing, etc.) with the relative peace I find late at night. I just find it easier to concentrate, to read, and to write when the television's off and when the city's hushed (I like to sit outside, on the balcony, when I write).

So, for me, yes, my being a CD has made me into a bit of a nocturnal creature. I'll be honest here; even though this sometimes interferes with my sleeping patterns, I wouldn't want it any other way.

How about you?

Love,
CJ

:-k I don't often 'think' about my CDing as I dress at home when I want with the acceptance of my wife J, so I cannot say it has turned me into a night owl therefore I am not answer 1. In my youth I was a night owl but now this old bird needs her beauty sleep (lots of it I hear you say!). so I was answer 2 and now I should be answer 3. But I voted answer 4 with the rider that if it was OK for me to go out I would probably go the 'traditional' route for my first excursion, an evening or nightime walk round the block, respectfully attired for a lady of my age.

When I was younger, yes I was a night owl, as that was the only time I felt safe to dress up. In 2005 I ventured out in the daylight and found that I could pass enough that I could enjoy myself. Since then I have told my wife and she has accepted and supported me. We have gone out together with me fully dressed and I no longer need to hide in the dark to dress.

It has for me because of opportunity and timing mostly. Often afternoon and evenings is when I can get some femme time as that is when the kids are gone or that is when I get out of town usually to run errands and include femme time with it. And usually when I do get some femme time I try to make the best of the time I get and stretch it out as long as I can. So I usually leave the stores that stay open late as the last ones I go to. Otherwise you do not usually see me shopping after 11pm.

When I first got out on my own and could dress at my leisure yes I did become a night owl with my dressing, then sanity took over and I assumed a more normal schedule. As I started going out I found no I stayed on schedule and had no issues. Nowadays I suffer from insommia and have for about 8 years now so I am a night owl and every other part of the day. :(

After thinking about this thread, I came to the conclusion that

If your in the closet then your most likely will be a "Night Owl".
If your out of the closet then your most likely will not be a "Night Owl".

I remember when I was in the closet, going out at night meant that

1. Less people around that could read you
2. Darkness hides details that could cause a person to read you.

I have always been a nightowl,,,, I have to it's my life,,,, I am part of the underworld's underworld, I am deep in the depths of the underworld,, I live for the night time. I am a vampire.

I used to see the posers and wannabbees come down to my haunts and clubs, but they didn't last too long, they just took a peek into my world and soon went back home to mom. It takes a strong stomach to live in the underworld, it's not for the faint of heart.

I even work at night, i have to,, the low life customers don't come out in the daylight.

Daytime is for the old and weak.

I've been a night owl my entire life. These days it's job-related work into the evening (even from home!) and I can't possibly unwind and relax before midnight at the earliest. But I certainly know what you mean about roaming about at night. Even while in Manhattan and Times Square I much preferred the evening. I guess it's always been more glamourous and exciting, and as I got older, I learned it's more exotic, as well.

For me it is when the wife goes to bed I can come here and read and post!

That is not meant to mean I am in hiding from her, She knows Christine and is comfortable with it. It just means that when she is awake I prefer to spend the time with her and not you all.

Sorry
I have been out for over a year already WOW!

I am more of a morning dove- always wake up early. After a day at work it very hard for me to stay up late.
Just starting to explore my feminine nature- am very shy meek and demure. Addicted to looking and acting ladylike. Still have so many questions about exactly who I am- have so many mixed emotions about my gender issues.

I've been pretty much a night person and more so in my earlier years when I could CD more comfortably. Now in the last 10/12 years, midnight seems a tad late unless I have my nap during the day. I am able to CD any time I want to now a days. I suppose there are advantages and dsadvantages. I'm more of a casual dresser during the day, I like denim shorts or skort/skirt and a girlie tank and tennies. While as the day gets on, I change to a regular skirt and blouse and some sort of flats or short heels. Summertime I wear a lot of girlie shorts. I especially like the type that zip up using the left hand and are hard to find.

Being retired with a supportive wife and living on a secluded farm, no I'm not a night owl although I do tend to do more makeup, etc. in the evenings. Makeup isn't always so good when one is outside working and sweating :(
