Weaker sex, my a@@

Post by Virginia »

Today, in the woods, above the house we have a tray and a salt block set out. A doe and two young bucks frequent this outdoor diner often. But today I saw something I have never seen before. I use to spend an inordinate time in the woods communing with nature and I have seen some interesting things, but nothing like this!

The doe was eating her ration of corn and one of the bucks, a nice six pointer, walked up behind her, she turned and with her front paw = hoof, popped him right upside the head, damn near knocked him down. He shook his head and wandered away, only to come back a few minutes later, only this time she chased him a few steps and using both front hooves proceeded to pound on his rump several times. Off he ran again returning again in a few minutes, walked up behind her, this time she turned and popped him right between the eyes actually knocking him back on his haunches! Now he was not attempting to make little deer, he just wanted to get to the corn and evidently she was not through eating and did not want any male company!! It was absolutely amazing to watch.

As I was leaving tonight she was standing about 20 yards away up in the woods and I said to her, "Just stay away from me lady, I have seen how you act when your angry, and I don't need that embarrassment!" She just looked at me and twitched her ears, virtually unconcerned! Unbelievable!

Weaker sex - not in that domain anyway!

Hi all,

Virginia,

It's a well-known fact: a doe don't take no crap from no one!

I'm not an ethologist (thanks, Lydia!) or anything, but I strongly suspect that the belief that the female of the species is the weaker sex is a particularly human conceit--and a human male conceit, at that! Just look at the praying mantis, the lionness, the black widow, etc. These are certainly not weak. And, now, you can add the doe to the list. :P

Love,
CJ

I love to shoot them with my Camera. Beautiful Animals.

Shame so many get killed by Cars and Trucks.

Be careful out there, Virginia. Sometimes one will try and sneek up on you from behind. Keep your ears open.

With almost any animal, the most dangerous situation is to be between a mother (female) and it's young.

In some species, like lions, the female does most of the hunting.

Women out live men.

More male fetuses are concieved, but more girls are born.

Men are expendable, you only need one sperm donor for untold wombs. The reverse is not true.

In traditional Hispanic families, in public the man makes the decisions, gives the orders. In private, the woman tells him what decisions to make and what orders to give.

Men are valued over women when population pressure is an issue. Like in the desert and the steppes, think Afghanistan and Arabia.

I think that is true in a lot of households across many cultures around the world :)

Ed always tells people "it's easier just to agree" :P

If my decision does not a line with my wife's I will continue to hear options until it comes in line with hers.

I am a physically male person that likes to wear feminine clothes at times.
Just trying keep a balance for my self along with keeping my wife and kids in mind.

Curly it's probably true in lots of places. However I brought up Hispanic families since here in this part of the states it's a fairly common stereotype that in Hispanic families the man calls the shots. Likewise Italians, Greeks, Portugese.......
