What Should I Wear?

Post by Jaye »

Saturday night I'm attending the "Girls Rock Girls Rule" tour at the Hershee Bar in Norfolk. Here's some info:

http://www.myspace.com/girlsrockgirlsrule

The Hershee is a girl bar (read: lesbian). When I lived here before, it was a little dingy, but apparently it has evolved into one of the premier small performance venues in the Hampton Roads area. If I dress to blend in, I should probably wear a t-shirt and jeans. I don't feel really femme that way. I was thinking maybe a corset top and jeans, or maybe the same and a denim mini. Any thoughts?

Can't imagine myself ever feeling fem in jeans or slacks. Skirt or dress for me but each to his(her) own.

Women's jeans can indeed feel very feminine. As with anything form-fitting it's important to try them on to get the right size, and there are certainly styles that are more or less feminine. Personally, I like the flared leg look and I usually opt for a longer cut than I would wear in boy mode. They're frequently designed this way so that a bit of a heel will keep them from dragging and you get a nice leggy appearance.

... still, not to everyone's taste. I started wearing them out in my home area as a compromise and was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked them.

If it werre me I would go with the jeans. I like jeans and the proper fitting pair can be as feminine as any skirt. If you wear heels remember you will probably do a lot of standing, I do at every concert I have ever been to, so wear comfy ones!

It is a measure of how low I've been the last week that it has taken me so long to come back to this thread.

I never made it to the concert last weekend. I didn't get out anywhere, as it happened. I had a case of the sniffles last week, that blossomed into a full-blown allergy attack by Saturday evening. I've been down every day since, and am only just starting to feel better.

It's okay, though. I just found out that I'm getting an extended weekend next week (Friday to Tuesday!), so I'm working on something for then, if only for a couple of days.
