I was born left handed all the way. But I grew up when it was fashionable to change lefties to righties. Thus Mother said I ought to learn to eat right-handed so I wouldn't clash elbows at the dinner table. She got me to write right-handed because all the school arm-chairs were right-handed.

But in things I really wanted to do, like baseball, I threw and batted left and still do. On the other hand I play guitar, banjo and fiddle right-handed and it seems natural to do so, don't know why. But I can bat right as well as left, or could when I still had my batting eye, though I had less power from that side.

Judging by my career of sometimes pixilated and subversive writing, music and art, I have wondered whether the act of being made to go against my natural hand set up some sort of weird feedback (or short in the wiring) that left me wildly and bafflingly at odds with my society, time and place.

CDing could definitely be part of that, or that could be part of CDing. That there would be some relationship makes lots of sense to me. I have a book about lefthandedness, but it tactfully avoids anything in the least bizarre. Too bad, since I have felt strongly for years that the bizarre is rooted in my lefthandedness, and so is CDing (which isn't bizarre to me, I think it's normal) and I've always wanted to know more.

Lefties arise. Love, Robyn Katie

I'm all about the right hand, except when it comes to playing pool. That is the only thing I really do left handed.

I write and draw left-handed, although I throw with my right arm. I've read many artists were left-handed.

For the most part I am right handed. But interestingly I also do many things with my left hand or even will switch back and forth at some things and do them equally well both ways.

I am a leftie for sure. Only things I do rigthie are pound nails (right hand can't fumble well with nails), and shoot a rifle (at 6 I took a hot brass in the cheek when I fired first semi-auto .22 trying to hold it lefthanded).

Think we're on to a definite trend here. rr

I am right handed in most things but do switch hands on occasion. In useing larger tools my Dad said that I used thim left handed.

In the important thing of putting on pantyhose it is the left leg first. It doesn't seem to go right if trying the right leg first. In applying makeup it is both hands.

for those of us that play piano, organ accordian and some string insturments I think it is ambidextrious. Not only are we using both hands but they are doing different things in different patterns.

Interesting about the shell casing. I don't have much experience with guns but I did shoot my dad's .22 as a kid and didn't have that problem. But I often wondered if other people did, particularly military and especially with bullpup designs.
