The message of perfume?

Post by Brenda »

When I bought my last bra the store was offing a special enticement of a small bottle of perfume for $5. I don't generally use cosmetics aside from lipstick, but I was wondering if I passed up an opportunity.

I always present en drab, even if I'm dressed entirely in women's casual clothes. What would just a little perfume add to the message?

Well Brenda, in todays world of the "metro-sexual" there is not too much difference between perfumes and aftershave anyway. Well unless you go to the extremes in aftershave, Old Spice and Mennen come to mind!

I always wear perfume no matter how I am presenting. I just love the smell for as long as it lasts. If anyone questions you about why you smell "so good.?" It is just, well my SO, wife, girlfriend, wore my shirt or jacket or whatever so it must be her you smell. That or " yeah, its perfume, so what --------- you got a problem with that??"

Whatever works for you!

I wear perfume in both modes as well.

So far, no one has mentioned it. I know they can smell it. My mom loves it and she has worn it to church functions and gets asked about it all the time.

A message? Maybe, "I don't care."

Perfume after effects

Post by Erin Rhodes »

I love the smell of perfume and would love to give my 'special drawer' a spritz once and awhile. But so many perfumes are so strong I worry about the residual effect long after I've returned to drab.
Any suggestions on how to lessen it's effect when needed?

:-k Maybe some Fabreeze? Or Maybe tossing the item in the dryer with a fabric sheet? Or spritzing with a cologne?

If you are wondering about a sociological message, I think you will find most people do not care, but some may make a comment. One I heard was that "Somebody is wearing an aftershave that smells like a girl." That one was me, and it really was an aftershave called Fresh Rain from Avon, that my sister had given me, and it had been on for over 5 hours. So I guess that was another sensative nose!! The guy was a fish and game ranger, who had been on duty trying to catch poachers overnight, and everyone agreed he smelled like DEET and needed a shower! LOL DEET is a mell that lasts a loooonnnng time if you have a sense of smell.

I have to use natural scents that are not musk oil based as I have friends who are allergic to the stuff. We all wear light floral scents, and carry a small container with us to renew it since it does not last all that long.

An individual's ability to smell determines the extent of the message too. I do not have a good sense of smell, and though I can smell a scent while concentrated in a bottle, within a minute of applying it, I can no longer smell it at all. We used to have skunks living under the building we worked in, and when they would get up to making a new generation the whole building apparently reeked and caused people to go home early with headaches. I, on the othre hand, was unaware of it!!!

There is also the effect of overload. When you smell a scent long enough, your mind no longer discriminates it so "you no longer smell it". On the onter hand, I have a female friend with such a sensitive sense of smell that she can determine that her husband has been in a room and about how long ago. Another, male, can track an injured deer at night by smelling the blood left behind. He says its a metallic, coppery smell and is very distinctive.

Not sure about the message of perfume, but we had a computer in the shop the other day that the user must have used a lot of perfume. It smelled lovely and made the hours go by nicely.

I work from home and 4 days a week, during lunch break (actually i combine lunch and morning/afternoon breaks) and head to the gym. many mornings i crossdress and put makeup and perfume on. i clean off the makeup before leaving the house but many times i can smell the perfume i put on in the morning. no one has said anything to me yet ... but i know they can smell it at the front desk...
:haha:

i love perfume!

Actually just storing a dryer sheet in you special drawer will do the trick (pleasant but not over powering scent)
