Eyeliner tips
How do you apply eyeliner correctly? It always makes a mess when I apply it.

Re: Eyeliner tips
If using a pencil make sure it is sharp and warmed up. If it is liquid I have not mastered that yet.Johanna wrote:How do you apply eyeliner correctly? It always makes a mess when I apply it.

My hands aren't steady enough for the liquid stuff. I have found that it helps if you apply it in arcs. I start from the middle of the eye and work my way out. Then I work from the middle in. Another alternative is to use eyeshadow in place of eyeliner. It comes in a wider variety of colors, and you can either apply it with a fine brush, or smudge it on with a sponge-tip applicator. The last is a good way to get the smoky or heavy look that seems so popular these days.

I would recommend going to any of the commercial websites, such as Revlon, Max Factor, Almay, etc and they have all kinds of help for everything from lip liner and gloss to eyes and brows etc.
I guess we each have our own techniques for applying eyeliner. One thing is to either have a very steady hand or place your elbow on something firm before you begin.
Check out the sites Mabelline and Cover Girl also have good sites.

Just starting to explore my feminine nature- am very shy meek and demure. Addicted to looking and acting ladylike. Still have so many questions about exactly who I am- have so many mixed emotions about my gender issues.

Try going to one of the larger department stores or if you have a Merle Norman, in your area, in the early morning before the crowds and ask for help in product selection and in the application. The sales staff are more helpful than ever and are willing to go the extra distance to help us.

I don't even attempt lining with a liquid. And I usually only line the upper lid.
I use either a dark powder shadow applying it with the edge of a foam tip applicator or a brush or I use a pencil. I then smudge the line with a q-tip. The smudging helps to hide errors.
