Thanks Donna,
The Dr. in Idaho is a true pioneer and died in 1962 and I have never hear his/her name mentioned on any of the sites and other places I have visited.
The situation in Columbia just further confirms that our plight is a two-edged sword. We want recognition, which requires the need to make "the powers that be" aware that we are and that we like our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters would like to be able to be without harassement for anyone, public or law enforcement or business, etc. The problem is that during the transistion period which can take years, we are more exposed and without legal protection or "rights,' that is when we get into trouble.
The Columbian article also eludes to but for whatever reason does not expand on the fact that before the "Catholics" arrived on the scene the "native population" just like our own "native Americans" had no problem with those of us who would be considered outside the mainstream!
Anyway, thanks again for the thread!
Love,
Virginia
