The news says Paul Harvey is now deceased. I would suppose he now knows the "Rest of the Story" and must be frustrated he can't tell the rest of us. RIP

Hi Carolyn--
I think I only heard Paul Harvey once in my life, that I recall. I was in college, and he was reading a letter that a girl on drugs had written before she overdosed--something like that. This was 1970, and youthful drug abuse was a big topic.

Guess I don't listen to any ABC affiliates on AM. I tune to KCBS for their traffic reports. Otherwise, it's NPR, or some music. I read about Paul on Wikipedia--it really did seem like he was on the radio forever and a day.
From the sound of it, he'll be missed by a lot of people.

How did he handle transgender issues on his show?

Hi Anita. I was not a regular listener, just usually when I was driving out of range of my KCSC Classical station (PBS/NPR). He likely would have handled it with some humor, unless it was about a TG person who suicided. He did regard suicide as something to regret, so I would not have been surprised if he would have been sympathetic. However, I did not ever hear a story on his few minutes on the air that dealt with TG issues.

What a great byline! I'll bet there are a lot of us who would love to know, "the rest of the story!"

I will miss him and his unique delivery of the news and comments. As for his position on "us," gays and lesbians, I don't know that he, at least on the air, would have admitted to a "position." He was a class act and stuck usually to just reporting the news without opinion.

I guess one of has to fire up the ouiji board and find out, after Paul's had a chance to get his bearings.

I remember a leftist/radical, writing: "As Paul Harvey says, 'page two.'"
So that was one of his signatures?

I for one would listen to him off and on. He was interresting. It's sad though. You just never how much you miss something, till it's gone. I will miss him.

My dad listens to a country radio station. Every time I went to visit him, I heard Paul either doing the News or The Rest of the Story. He did have a unique way of delivery. I'll miss him for sure.

I wonder if they'll replace him or just let his style of commentary fade?

I first found Paul Harvey on Super 98 WRJB in August of 1977, and immediately fell in love with his News and Commentary and then later in the afternoon, The Rest of the Story. I missed him while I was in the Army, especially while over seas. But since I now drive a truck I often have to scan through the dial as they used to call it to find a clearer channel for a Conservative Talk program, (Rush, Neal Boortz, Laura Ingraham, Bill O'rielley, Glenn Beck, ect) near the noon hour and Sean, or one of the Michaels later in the day and often found Paul Harvey doing one or the other of his pieces. The Others could wait if I could what he had to say.
Paul Jr. wrote most of the Rest of the Story stories and does a pretty good gob delivering them, and did a descent job on the News and Commentary. But Paul Senior was one of a kind. He will be sorely missed.
