Hello,
I just signed up as a new member. I am not a novice. I have a few questions before I begin to post. My understanding when signing up was that I would recieve the usual confirmation email to activate my account. That hasn't happened (so far) yet I was able to log in as a member/user today to submit this post. ? (It is possible I miss-spelled my email address when I signed up)
Are there forums on this site that are closed to non-members, (invitation only, hot topics etc.)?, that is, forums that are not viewable to to the general public, that can not be accessed via Google? I will not post to an "open forum".
I hope my initial questions and comments are not offensive to anyone, however I have inviolate rules with respect to my activity on the internet.
FWIW, This site, although not as active as others, feels like "home" more than any other and I sooo enjoy Auntie Jeannies' humor... refreshing.

Hi CeciliaO,
First welcome, now I am not SilverLady as she is the mod for this. I do know you have to be a member for 30 days before you can post pictures and you must ask for permission to some topics.
These are off limits to non members like the general public. Hand in there as I am sure SL will answer your post soon as she is the greatest and be fore warn she doesn't put up with BS or trash talk.
We are family here and as a rule we are lady like at all times

Hi, Cecilia, and welcome to the Forum!
Confirmation emails are automatically sent to the member when I activate their account. I note that your ISP has a bad habit of blocking emails from the forum to most of our members, and as I never received a 'mailer daemon' notice, I presume the email address you provided is correct; you might want to check your "Spam" or "Bulk" email folders. Please also check your Profile, and if your email address needs to be corrected then contact me via PM with the correct address . . . only the Site Admin can change it.
Yes, there are forums (aka user groups) here that are closed to search-bots and the general viewing public - Hot Topics, The Journey Beyond, and the GG-only section (which is, and will remain, accessible only by the GG's); members must be logged-in in order to read/post in these areas to which they have been granted access. Access to these sections are obtained by sending a PM to myself requesting access. See http://crossdressers-haven.com/forums/v ... php?t=9251 for more detailed information.
The forum itself is indeed viewable to the general public, as you yourself have discovered during the past year; however, only logged-in members may actually post. Search-Bots from Google, Yahoo, AOL, and others are regular visitors with our blessings - in fact, Google's search-bots are here as I write this post. While we do have the ability to block them, we choose not to do so; we hope to aid the CD or GG-SO who is seeking help and understanding who may find our forum via a search engine, and that's another reason why our forum is, for the most part, viewable by the general public.
In addition to the user groups, search engines are not able to access our Membership List, members' profiles, the Photo Gallery, Flash Chat, nor the Site Admin side of the forum, and that is to protect our members.
I thank Carol Ann for attempting to answer your questions, but I must make corrections to some of her answers:
1.) The criteria for uploading photos is that members must have made at least 5 posts (posts in some areas do not count towards that criteria), but there is no 30-day waiting period, per se (which is a common misunderstanding). See http://crossdressers-haven.com/forums/v ... 7191#97191 for more detailed information.
2.) The 30-day waiting period only applies to the Hot Topics section, and even that is not 'etched in stone' . . . access to Hot Topics is not automatically granted just because a member has met the requirements, but is solely at the Site Admin's discretion.
Carol Ann is correct, though, in that our rules and guidelines are enforced, and lady-like decorum is prevalent; trash talk and BS are no-no's, as are trolls and other trouble-makers.
We are generally one big family, and Auntie Jeannie is quite a (lovable) character/comedian!
If you have any further questions you might want to wander through the Announcements and Ask Us sections, where the rules and guidelines for the forum may be found. Also, please check the archives in Ask Us to see if your query may have already been asked and answered in the past. http://crossdressers-haven.com/forums/v ... php?t=5928.
We look forward to your participation, so don't be shy!

Dear Silver Lady,
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed reply! I will re-read all the sections you suggested.
The email addy in my profile is correct. I'll see what I can do to remedy the problem on my end as I may want to enable email functions... eventually.
Warm Regards, CeciliaO
