Peter Wherrett was the television host of the worlds first motoring show "Torque" , the show aired for eight seasons during the 1970s.
In his show he would test new vehicles and devices and praise or slam manafacturers , the show attracted a blokey bloke petrolhead cult following and Peter was well respected.
In the 1990s Peter wrote his biography and dropped a bombshell , " I am a crossdresser"!

What an interesting, inspiring person. Sometimes I think these Aussies and Kiwis lead bigger lives than the rest of us. I was a big fan of John Britten, especially after I saw his paradigm shattering motorcycle demonstrated at the Loudon NH. motorcycle races.
It's a macho cult, but there are open minded people. Mick Duff, in his time the highest finishing Canadian in World Grand Prix motorcycle racing, eventually became Michelle Duff. Years Later, Michelle was invited back to ride one of the factory bikes, in her female persona, at a ceremonial race at the Dutch GP.
I had never heard of Peter Wherrett before, but I am going to be looking for him all over the internet now.

I am a vessel of the Goddess. Let me express my calling to a feminine life through nurturing love and relatedness.

Anita our ABC is the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. A government not for profit tax payer funded entity. As Merinda said Torque was ahead of it's time in that it was not an add for the cars given him to test but an honest critique.
Peter's book 'Desirelines' is a great read. His father was an abusive alcoholic crossdresser, (very possibly TS) his brother a successful gay theatre director and of course Peter was a successful television presenter here in Australia.
I emailed Peter after reading the book and he emailed me back with a nice note thanking me for contacting him.
He was a very active member of our TG suppport group here in Melbourne - unfortunately before my time, before he re located to mid New South Wales.
Great loss to our community who is sadly missed.
