We had an unusual event at our local MCC church last Saturday. It seems the church and associated groups are recognizing the T community more lately...so....someone had the idea to have a "drag show" to benefit us. At first I thought "no way...parody...bad". But it turned into a large event and very very nice. LOL, was held in the church of all places, so guess we're saved I was just gonna wear a normal going out outfit, but as the last minute my SO said "awww wear the ballgown". After much arm twisting (14 seconds) I said why not..so did. It was lots of fun and we did raise a fair amount for our projects. So all is good (they sold beer on the steps) and I convinced myself I'm nuttier than Grandama's Christmas fruitcake. Oh well, where else can I wear a ball gown

Where indeed, if not an MCC church? I can see why you'd be leery of a drag event, but I'm glad it all turned out well. Beer and a formal gown--what's not to like?
I helped with one of those a few years ago, at my grandmother's church's, it was it's bicentennial celebration, and they did all kinds of stuff, but the two things that stood out for me was a cousin of mine that remarked to my mother about me, "It's like seeing a bigger version of you up there!" and after we'd finished up, I was one of the few that came out of the dressing rooms afterward to mingle with the crowd. I went into the kitchen and was helping to serve food with the other ladies of the church to the rest of them.

"Inside me, there's a thin girl, screaming to get out, but cookies & ice cream usually shut her right up."
The gown thing is not something I ever get to do, except for that event. It was just something I HAD to buy to try at home, so loved the chance to wear it out. The event was very successful, raised over $3000 for three groups. Posted another pic, but its not that good...windy and tired. Also, don't let your SO put the top down on the way home......pettis everywhere (which is ok, I guess)
