I just had one of the best outing I think I have ever had. It started with a local Grocery store announcing that they were closing this one store and was putting all remaining stock at 50% off. So yesterday, I got up showered, shaved, and became JoAnn. Wife and I went to the store, stood in line until the store opened, managed to get a basket and started shopping. While standing in line we made small talk with others around us, both men and women. No one stared or seem to notice that I was not a woman. The one thing I have always been fearful of is my fem voice, but again no one seem to notice it when I talked. When the store opened, we started going from aisle to aisle getting items. Because of the crowd there was a lot of “Excuse me Dear” and “Pardon me Mam”. A couple of times my wife almost calling me by my male name but caught herself. She is still getting used to using the correct pronouns when we are out in public and I am in en fem. I even had to stand in line to use the Woman’s restroom. The ladies restroom only has one stall. So again I found myself engaging in small talk with other women while standing in line. Still no one seem to notice or take exception to me. My wife has been helping me over the last few months with my presentation, dress, mannerisms, and etc. So I guess it has really started to pay off. Once I got into the restroom, there was controlled chaos. First using the stall, then the sink, then the mirror, and out the door, in that order. LOL Once I made thru the entire gambit, I felt I had survived a Trail By Fire or something. I really felt exhilarated by it. So I wondered around until I found my wife, at which time she had to use the ladies restroom. When she got back, she looked at me and smiled. I could almost sense her thoughts that she was impressed that I managed that little episode. As we were shopping, this sweet older lady came up to me and said, “Dear, you’re taller than I am, could you get something off the top shelf for me”. I looked at her, smiled, and said, “No Problem”. I went with her, got the items off the top shelf and put them in her basket. She then said, “I envy you taller girls, us shorter ones have a disadvantage.” I smiled and said to her, “I’ll tell a secret. My mother was only 5’ and one of my sisters is 4’ 11” and my other sister is only 5’ 1” tall”. She looked at me and said, “Then Dear must have gotten you Fathers genes then”. We both laughed, said our goodbyes, and I rejoined my wife. We finished shopping and got in line to check out. My wife has MS so she went over to where there were some chairs to sit while I stayed with the basket. Again here I am with two women ahead of me and three more behind me, making small talk for over forty minutes. Either again no one noticed or did not care, as we talked about this and that. Even one lady made a comment about the long line at the ladies restroom. It dawned on me that this was “Girl Talk” at it finest and I found myself smiling that I was right in the middle of all it.
All in all, it was a great outing. Even my wife told me she was very impressed on how well I handled myself. I know I have come a long ways since I first started going out en fem back in 2005, but I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would have such a wonderful outing like I did yesterday and that was only the start of it. Later my wife and I went out to lunch, then over to the Mall for a while and even out to dinner last night.
