That dress looks good on you

Post by Grace »

Last weekend I put on a skirt and top, etc., and went to breakfast at IHOP. I felt I was passing pretty well, and the waitress affirmed it by calling me ma'am. A quick visit to a hardware store again confirmed it when I was called Ma'am and "Hon." I always enjoy that.

Off to the Dress Barn, I walked in and was immediately told of a sale on dresses they had, and I soon found one that caught my eye. A quick trip to the fitting room, and I liked it so well, I decided to pay for it an wear it out of the store. I went to the cashier to pay, and she said "That dress looks good on you." I paid for it, she clipped off the tags and packed my skirt and top into a bag, and off I went, feeling over the moon.

What is it about being called ma'am several times, and being told "that dress looks good on you"? I think it is the feeling of complete acceptance, that I've managed to blend in and am allowed to completely be at home with the woman inside of me. I know there have been other threads about being "ma'amed" but being complimented for a new dress I was wearing was new and gave me a real boost of happy confidence. Have others had similar compliments on how they look in their feminine attire by unsuspecting strangers?

Sounds like you had a wonderful time. Congratulations on your outing and your new dress. I recently had a simallar experience when I was out shoe shopping, followed by a trip to the make up counter at Dillards.
Just something about being called Mam and soe one holding the door for you.

I agree, shopping as a woman, trying on dresses and skirts and being treated as a woman by sales staff is a wonderful feeling.

Compliments do wonders for the spirit. Probably my most favorite was "You look like a girl" wow, that was nice.

Way to go Grace! Oh it is a wonderful feeling to be called ma' am by strangers or have a door held for you!

One of my first times out dressed was to see my therapist. She monitors the waiting room with a cam. I walked in, got coffee and sat down. She said she thought I missed my appointment and went to the waiting room to help the lady waiting for something. She said hi and asked if she could help... when I spoke her jaw fell, she was genuinely surprised! She said she had no clue it was me! Oh I felt like I was in heaven :)

I know what you mean. One day last week, I decided to wear a skirt and blouse with low pumps. I was at ROSS's and had a SA ask me where I bought my outfit. I told her I had got both at a Estate Sale. She commented that she was taking note of that.
I just love it when a GG acknowledges my outfits. LOL

It is lovely to be taken as a woman while out and interacting as a female.

Perhaps the most fun of all.

I have always enjoyed the feeling I get when a complement is given to me.
This being the case I now find it easier to give women complements on their appearance and know that it brightens their day.
