My final post

Post by Sally »

This is my final post here as the time has come for me to move on. I’ve enjoyed nearly six years here of wonderful interaction and made a number of really great friends, with whom I hope to continue contact with via our emails, but the time has come where I feel I have nothing more of value to add, and I just seem to be going over old ground all the time. This forum has been the only online forum which I've interacted with for many years and that was because it's such a quality place to be and I hope it continues to be so for a long time to come.
Nobody is right all of the time and I'm no different and we all have varying opinions on a multitude of issues and we're all different ( good heavens, some of us even wear dresses and the like :P ) but it's the exchange of ideas and information which broadens our horizons, and that can only be a good thing.

I also can’t tolerate the ‘schoolmaster’ attitude of the person here who from time to time keeps trying to publicly belittle me when I inadvertently post information on articles which has already been previously posted by someone, I know he doesn’t only do it to me, but I’ve had enough of the ‘big stick waving’ in my lifetime. I know I’m not the brightest apple on the tree, but I fail to see why it’s so important to attempt to publicly point the finger of authority and belittle people publicly who may not have the luxery of time on their hands to read each and every article on a consistent basis which is posted here, and maybe there are people like myself who just simply don’t see everything, and seeing that currently around the world environmental issues and the effect of chemicals and drugs is so much to the fore in discussion and law making, I thought there would be people who may find the article of interest as the scientific content is fact, and I humbly offer my apologies to Susan for not previously seeing her article on it, and hope I didn’t offend her by doubling up, :sorry: , but it’s bound to happen from time to time with the number of people here, and when it does, and it will again, it won’t make mountains crumble. Sometimes silence is golden.

Well that’s about it, I wish everyone a wonderful, safe and happy festive season coming up next month, and may all your hopes and dreams for the future, and those of your family’s, be realized.

As the song says, “ Thanks for the memories.” *;*;*

Bye bye.

Sally.

Option 1.

A heartfelt, thoughtfully written goodbye, tender as to tug at one's heartstrings, to twang on them like a soulful blues song about loneliness, loss and despair...

or...option 2?

'See ya!'? Assuming it's your last post, you won't ready any of this, amirite?

We'll all miss an important and contributing member, that's for sure.

Best of luck to ya, don't be a stranger, keep us updated from time to time on what's going on, so we don't get the idea that you fell off the face of the earth.

Sally,

I am so sorry to read this! You have meant more to me than you will probably ever know and if you do indeed choose to leave you can do so knowing that you had a very positive and can I say, educational influence on this girl's life! As I have told you before, I always looked forward to your insightful and intelligent posts.

As for the repetitions in posts and topics, I kind of feel the same way, however, it is usually the new girls that come seeking answers and yes they are often the same questions that perhaps you and I had in the beginning of our own Magical Mystery Tour.

However, I understand your disillusionment but when we have a sorority this size we all can not get along and it will happen.

You know that I wish only the best for you on your future endeavors and you also know that we will "leave a candle burning in the window" should you wish to at least visit once in a while! You have been a substantial foundation to us!!!

Love you, dear!!!

Virginia

. . . and SL, too! :sigh:

Sally I hate to see you leave as you have been an inspiration to me for a long time in many ways. Mostly in how you live your life. God Bless and may our paths cross some day again.

Sally,

Thank you for all you have contributed to this forum, myself and many others. Speaking for myself, you have had a great influence on my life and I admire and will miss your special way of talking about things.

Your intelligence and warm compassion for those around you have made you an invaluable member of this forum. You will be greatly missed. Your contributions here have made a difference in the lives of many, myself included.

I wish you well and hope you might return from time to time, just to say "hi", which hopefully won't need to be fact checked.

Love always,
Elizabeth

Hi Sally--
I don't get here much myself these days, and I'm glad I caught this post. There does come a time when you feel like you're just recycling previous themes. Have you considered a website yet? You can put the best of your posts from here and elsewhere on a site, and then it's there for whoever needs that information for the first time.

I'll miss you on here, but there's no getting around a feeling of needing to move on.

Your feelings

Post by Jan W »

Hi Sally,

I understand why you are leaving. I log on and am determined to answer a post each time but I find it all has all been said before so I leave without adding anything. This happens time after time. I do love reading but feel I am not contributing.

Sally, your feelings have been hurt. There is no greater pain than someone who is perhaps insensitive stepping on our feelings. There are two types of people in the world. Those that will walk a million miles out of their way to spare someone's feelings and those that won't. The latter don't mean anything by it but that doesn't help the hurt.

This forum will be the poorer for your leaving but I understand why you are going.

Thanks for all the help and good advice you have shown me over the years and I wish you every happiness in the future.

Sincerely with love,

Jan Wilson

Sorry to see you leaving, especially with a bad taste in your mouth.

The reason double posts are mentioned is two fold:

1 we try not to have two threads currently running on in response to the same news story; and

2 it's to let someone know that they aren't being ignored if they don't get many responses, since responses were already posted to the other thread.

That's one job of the moderators.

It's a shame to see you go, Sally. :( You've been here almost as long as I have (and almost as long as the forum's been around). I hope to see you again - somewhere on the web, at least. :)

Yours,
Celia

I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND

Post by Kira Dias »

Sally,

I, too, have been sent to the same "schoolmaster's" office. I, too, am tired of being ridiculed and tend to just read postings and log out quietly. Please know you're thoughts are shared and best of luck to you.

Sally, I feel as bad about this as I would had I just been kicked in the stomach by a large angry horse.

As several of my other favorite sisters have already said, you have been consistently one of our top contributors. I read your posts with awe and amazment in your ability to clearly express such complicated feelings.

OTOH, I also know that moderators have their place, that forums such as this cannot exist without them. However imperfect they obviously are, this forum is head and shoulders above others because of the quality of our moderators.

Thank you for all you've done. You are free to go, but you will always be missed.

Hugs,

Bernice
