Hi all,

Alexandra,

Girl, when I wrote those words, I knew that I'd be hearing from you!!!

The "intelligent design" movement is actually a good case in point (even astrophysicists dance on religious grounds when they come up with concepts such as the "anthropic principle"). Whenever a religious person seeks (or finds) scientific proof that will (or may) confirm the "truth" of her spiritual beliefs, she's guilty of question-begging. As most scientists well know, the questions you ask determine the answers you get. We cannot but interpret and see the things of this world through our own glasses darkly (or "pinkly," for some of us  ).

You're absolutely right, of course, the relationship between a person and her Goddess (if Goddess there is), is a personal one. And we have no business wanting to impose that relationship as a model on others. Yet, "personal" doesn't mean "hidden." We, as a species, were religious even before we stood fully erect (okay, so I exaggerate a bit). The impulse for transcendence and meaning is in our very bones--and this is where spirituality and science have their common origins. I'm just not so certain that seeking to destroy another person's Weltanschauung, her worldview, (by highlighting its inconsistencies) is the best way to foster tolerance and understanding; doing so too often leads to resentment and ressentiment. I plead for tolerance. When, and where, another person's way of looking at, and being in, the world brings no harm to others, let that person be.

I don't know if this makes any sense to you, Alexandra. I hope it does. By the way, girl, I'm thankful that you're not afraid to express your own dissent or disagreement--this is how we eventually come to better understand both each other and ourselves.

You rock! 8)

Love,
CJ

Hi Y'all,
Wow! That's all I can say, WOW!! ..|/-

I have never thought of myself as stupid but reading through your posts make me feel like I need to go back to school, grade school, and work my way up through Masters. :-k

My thoughts on the subject are quite simple. I strongly believe that many habits and feelings are passed down via genetics. After all, a caterpiller doesn't go to school to learn to make a cacoon. Animals care for their children without being taught. Most human parents have natural caring built in. Why couldn't these feelings passed to us the same way.
The difference between male and female, as I understand it, has to do with the testosterone level in the womb. I have been told that some of my physical characteristics were created by a low level of testosterone. Why couldn't a certain amount of feminine feelings have been created the same way? Those who get the full dose don't have it. Those with less than the full dose retain some of these feelings.
This is just my ideas. I have no journals to prove them nor do I have a background in such matters. Some of it just seems to be logical.

I may be wrong but at least I can umderstand it without further education!!! ..rofl..

Yes! Often times that is the best way to make sense out of things (aka "Occum's Razor"). 8)

Here's a question for you CJ that I've always wondered about: Do you think that God would prefer that we spend less time worshiping Her in group settings and use the time to actually resolve the problems we are asking Her to resolve for us?

There is no right or wrong answer here, its just that people tend to duck this line of questioning. I'm inclined to think She'd be much more impressed with us if we were already doing this. What say you? 8)

(of course this is now straying off Danielle's topic a bit so if I get scolded by the moderator I'll take my punishment like a lady.)

Hello again ladies, girlfriends, and pretenders to the throne. Ha Ha LOL.

I have just finished reading the various inputs and find that we are fast becoming the out-of-control tennis ball machine. Ha Ha LOL.

Do not take me wrong. I am saying tongue-in-cheek that we may well qualify for the “confusion sisters” trophy. Ha Ha LOL.

There are more topics here than bills passing through the Senate. It took me about 30 minutes to really ready each panel for primary topic and subsequent support of that topic.

Phew! You have me running to my various internet sources just to understand the intellectual phrases, their meanings and related concepts.

I am with “Beauty”, Ha Ha LOL. Great picture!

There really is some great ideas floating around of course, we are in the TG family where brain power is queen…. er, ahahah, I think, Ha Ha LOL.

Astrophysics, critical thinking, genetics, group think, herd animal, intelligent design, mass psychology, religion (organized and otherwise), …

Ping-pong, ping-pong, ping-pong…..boing! I feel like I have a drunk pinned on! This has been some party.

Josey: I am in North Central Fla, DeLand, 20 min west of Daytona Bch. No Ph.D. needed in this group just a sense of humor, tough skin, (keep your testosterone in check) no prizes are being offered for being right by anyone.

So what is next on the agenda?

For Sally: A recently completed study in the UK demonstrated that there was a higher than average presence of TG people born to women under extreme stress (WAR) in Western Europe during WWII. Also, post-WWII in East Germany under communist rule. This does not rule out genetics in my point of view for we do not keep track of this as we might, say having twins or some other genetically recognized passed on traits. The right subject for you may be “Chaos Theory.” That there really is order in the Universe, we just do not fully understand it yet. 90% of the Universe (it is estimated) is made up of matter that we have not identified as of yet. I think they are calling it “un-matter”(not sure of term) for now. Just read about that last month in U.S. News and World Report.

I must regroup myself. If you have questions for me just put them out there for all to read. I am an open book, well, er, ahaahaha, for the most part that is.

Alexandra: yes, the library focuses on the humanities for the most part but there are several other areas of scientific interest as well.

Hugs

Danielle

I know, I know!!! Its called dark matter. 8)

Of all the sciences, astronomy is the one I'm most knowledgeable about, in particular, SETI -- think Dr. Ellie Arroway in the movie "Contact" -- that's me! 8)

Ellie's best line in the movie: "Funny, I always thought that the world's what you make of it."

Alexandra, I guess I'll use the quote above to answer your question. 8)
