Can't dress this weekend - Not Fair!

Post by Genifer Teal »

I just learned that I made a mistake and have a family commitmnent that will prevent me from going out dressed this weekend. I am so depressed. I had it all planned out, then I learn the party is saturday, not sunday. Ugh!!! I am writing this to vent and gain a little sympathy. Thanks for listening.

Sorry to hear about that.
I figure that most or all of the folks here have had times like this.
Perhaps you can figure out some way of creating a little personal time to cheer yourself up.
Some of the people here have mentioned wearing certain items of clothing either under their drab clothes, or actually integrating a piece of their femme items as part of their visible ensemble. Something that only you know for sure is femme.
This is a good place to vent about these issues (within reason  )
but please do post again when you're feeling better also! :)

I just thought to ask you what it was that you had planned on wearing.
It's seems that there are plenty of people here that love to talk clothing!
So, what were your plans, anything special?

Home early - ready for bed.

I have just returned home from my family event. I almost went out en drab, but decided against it. I am a bit tired anyway.

To answer the questions above, I really had nothing special I was planning to wear. It was likely to be something I have worn many times before. It is nice to have a new outfit to show off, but that is not the only fun part of dressing for me. While the clothes are fun to wear, they are more a means to the whole expierence of going out.

This brings up a new topic. Dressing for me is a means towards going out. It is a very rare occasion for me to dress and stay at home, or to dress "just becasue", if I am home anyway.

When I go out as Genifer, I get lots of attention and special treatment. If I go out in drab, the situation is drasticly reversed. I get so little attention it is almost depressing.

I gave up trying to figure out why I dress. There is one simple reason that sums it all up. When I go out dressed, I have fun. That is why I do it, and why I was depressed to learn I couldn't go out tonight.

Hi all,

Genifer,

I know Rikki, for one, sees the issue of dressing in the same way you do. Dressing is something you do to get ready for something else. I can see the point. I still think, though, that it works best for those who are "out there," in the world, either partially or full-time.

I imagine that, with your looks, you'd manage to get the attention you want regardless of how you dressed up en femme (well, maybe dressing up as Carrie Nation might not do the trick, but you know what I mean... ).

Love,
CJ

I didin't know who Carrie Nations was. Google helped me find this:
Standing at nearly 6 feet tall and weighing 180 pounds, Carry Amelia Moore Nation, Carrie Nation, as she came to be known, cut an imposing figure.

I must say at 6' 4" (that's w/o heels) and 170 lbs, I must cut an equally imposing figure. I think it is the part about how she weilded a hatchet where we differ. I prefer to weild a pocketbook. lol

Further google research located the following photo of Carrie Nation (weilding her axe). Perhaps there are some similarities! LOL

Hey Gen, the offer still stands at any time or even the next time you get caught in that situation... 60 Below! Plus I think Hahn just might be working there... :)

I know it can be a real bummer when you spend all week looking forward to dressing only to have other obligations creep up. ](*,)

March and April are tough months for me. Last Saturday was my niece's birthday. This weekend is my goddaughter's birthday, and then nezt week is my other niece... ugh... EVERY single child in my family and all my friends' children were born between late February and early April... we're talking a kids' birthday almost every weekend! Toys R Us LOVEs me this time of year! Like a second Christmas... LOL

Glad you dressed at Hahn's show... sometimes we have to squeeze out every rare opportunity we can to dress!

*hugs*
