Yesterday, while at Sunday dinner with my sister- and mother-in-law, my wife and my daughter, our waitress noticed that I had my left ear pierced. She then kind of leaned across in front of me to check the other ear while asking if I had both ears pierced. When I replied in the affirmative, she said, "cool." She then addressed my daughter and asked if it was neat to have a cool dad. My daughter replied, "yes."
I believe the waitress was in her 50's; I just turned 60. Her reaction has been one of the more strange or strong reactions that I've gotten since I had them pierced.
Love,
Alana

Hi all,
I've had both ears pierced since, well, since forever. I had my left earlobe done almost thirty years ago, when I quit my teens and the right one maybe five years later.
I do get comments fairly often because I much prefer small hoops over studs and I've always worn hoops on both earlobes. But such is culture here in Montreal that it seems many men have pierced ears (for example, just on my team of colleagues, only one of the three women has her earlobes pierced while, out of the four guys, three have piercings--two of us with hoops on both lobes and the other with a small stud on the left lobe).
About twelve years ago, I worked at a large bookstore on the West Coast where one of the (admittedly younger) managers had multiple piercings on his ears; about fifteen on each side. He had a row of small hoops going down the rim of each one of his ears, as well as a small group of studs on the little fleshy part just in front of the ear canal. Both his earlobes had multiple piercings. He practically jangled when he walked.
Although many people do it here, I'm not a big fan of open lobe piercings. I saw someone once who had both earlobes open to about the diameter of a quarter. He wore an inner lobe hoop on one side and a bone horn stud through the other. It was just a little too much for my tastes, I guess.
Seems to me there's an inversely proportional relation between the size of the community you live in and the likelihood that someone will comment on your pierced earlobes. Really, who cares, though? As was stated above, it's your body, after all. The risk of getting some snarky comment doesn't outweigh the pure pleasure of feeling the weight of those large hoops dangling from your ears. It's akin to the pleasure you experience from feeling the long hair of a wig brushing against your shoulders or from the weight of breast forms on your chest. It's worth it.
Love,
CJ

I have my left ear pierced twice. Two diamonds. This was about 3
years ago. Had only one piercing but my grand daughter was afraid
to get her ears pierced (she was about eight) and I told her that I would
take her (with grandma) and if she would do it, than I would do it
again. She said OK and we did it. It seems that at that time it was the
left ear for men, now, of course its BOTH ears. I will get my right ear pierced
but for now my wife would prefer (for some reason) that I don't.

The devil"s wanting me to do it.....
My wife got her tattoo. I haven't been really ideal on the body art scene ever, including piercings. Things change and so must I.
I'm determined it's time for the really sexy earrings and am getting my nerve up to do it. My wife wants to take me but, it's a considerable effort to take that plunge. Haven't wanted to assault my body (i.e.. me who smokes drinks and the like). Maybe for Christmas....
This whole thing about my cross dressing is now getting my wife somewhat excited. Me? I'm not so sure... Excited about CD? Yes. About sharing? Yes. BUT........
Find out more in the next episode of "Does Father Know Best"?

Gwen, go and get your ears pierced (if you have not already had them done) and you have to leave the studs in for a few weeks and spraying them with an antiseptic and turn them a couple of time a day.
The end result should be trouble free, and you can wear what ever beautiful earring that you choose.
I love having my ears pierced, and the only thing I regret is that I had not had it done years ago.

Keeping them cupped comfortably.

When I had mine done, it was a Christmas present from my wife. Happened as we were about to pass Claire's Icing. But my wife was the reluctant one in my caseGwen wrote:I'm determined it's time for the really sexy earrings and am getting my nerve up to do it. I had mine pierced last spring. I'd been thinking about it for a while, and finally decided to go for it. My favorite earrings are by "Silver Forest". They are hand made in Vermont (I despise fake chinese junk), are very beautiful and a little esoteric. Everyone else likes them too, and women are always commenting on them. I have several pair, some with birds, one with dragonflies, and one with fairies. So I highly recommend you gals check them out, that being said I think I will go buy myself another pair today.

I did the self piercing thing years ago. I wore the earings when I could and not at work and such. Then, I sort of got out of the habit of even wearing them.
This thread was in the back of my mind and I thought, "I wonder if the holes are still open. I hadn't worn earings in years.
Sure enough, the holes (all four of them) are still there. The two most recent are tight, but the older two (the orriginals) are just fine. I just may have to start wearing them again now that I'm retired.

My in-laws are from the "old world" which means men don't pierce stuff. Ro isn't going to let me pierce anything until they are gone. Ro doesn't want me to have too many outward indicators of my fem self.
And so I am wearing clip earrings when I go out. Interestingly enough, I have know a few GGs that never pierced either. it doesn't make me feel better, but at least I'm not alone
