why did i do that
the other da while shaving my chest i thought why not shave the rest of me, i always here people say how there always smooth an love it, about an hour an a couple of nicks later it was done and it did feel nice. a couple of days later not so nice, so tried nair. once i got past the smell it didn't do anything except make my skin feel like it was sunburned. so shaved again, 2 days later needed to shave again, that's when i said why did i do that. now waiting patiently for it to grow back.

Nair doesn't work for me either.. Try waxing and epilating.. 2 to 3 weeks between sessions. You can do both at home (the Sally Hensons cold hair removal gel is awesome and smells great). Epilator costs like $75.. Braun silk Epi is what I use. And the more you do it the less hair comes back and the finer the hair.. Which then makes shaving better because your not as prickley.. Hair is thinner and finer.

Using a epilator on your chest regularly will reduce this hairs on your chest to almost zero over a few months. These days the hairs on my chest have just about disappeared, but my below my waist line and thighs still need regular "defuring" usually with Naird or Veet.
My legs below the knees are just about the same as my chest, bald.

Keeping them cupped comfortably.

I love my Braun epilator thingy. It's a bit painful at first, but I couldn't be happier with the results.

I guess you just have to experiment. Nair just decimates my skin, I am fair complected and very hairy, very fine stwberry blonde body hair but a beard that you could strike a match on. I only shave the hair thats visable, arms, chest, legs i am lucky that it can't be seen very well if not shaved close. My wife does not like prickley legs and chest so they get the most attention. For coarser hair I guess an epilator would be best but a razor workes good for me

waxing hurts, epilating really hurts (tried them both once never will again EVER) shaving is boring and gives you a rash.
But if you are going for smooth look yeah shaving should be adequate. girls aren't smooth 100% of the time those married will know this I'm sure as its impossible to be with regrowth and shaving rashes.
few women if any go beyond shaving legs, underarms and downstairs. why? because shaving your arms and chest etc is a bad idea when you consider the course itchy unpleasant feeling regrowth also hair grows back thicker and courser the more you shave thats why even girls who are quite hairy don't tend to shave their arms as its sexier to have light soft fine hairs than thick stubble. I personally think unless you are dolling up to the nines for a special occasion i think girls should shave less their hair is fine and cute.
but yeah i feel your pain at shaving i hate it and do it only sometimes

I have found that using an epilator was painful at first, especialy on my face. I then tried something different that worked well.
Since the hair grows in spurts, I found that if I used the epilator 24 hours after shaving I could handle it. Then use it every few hours. If I needed a close shove, I would use the epilator first then follow with a shave.
By doing it this way, it would only catch the wiskers (or hair) that had grown enough for it to catch without trying to get everything, Over time I got the results of softer and finer whiskers, which is what I was after.

Leeza, I tried the epilator today(wife let me use hers
) and of couse had to follow with shaving. My arms and chest look like a beaver that just got a bikini wax.
Still this should cut down on the razor burn and nicks over time. The old skin on my arms isn't razor friendly at all. I was surprised that there was little pain but, maybe that was because I had shaved yesterday.
I believe I was a lesbian in my past life

It is good
Hi there. I am new here. I am 61yo in Australia and I have been shaving my chest and pubes for almost 45 years now.
As somebody else said, the more you do it the easier it is, and I can even use a raor with shaving cream with no problems.
In the world of nudism, shaving is called depilation, and you would be surprised at how many guys do it. The feeling is fantastic and I would never go back to full pubes again. The reason I first started was my childhood memories of no hairs, and I truely loved it.

If my Kilt was a skirt, I would have panties on.

Guess I am lucky to be part Native American. I only have to shave my chest and legs once a week. I shave my arms at the same time. Yes I do feel smooth after shaving. One thing about waxing, is that after you have done it a few times, you will notice any new hair that grows back to be fine and light in nature.

With the years of comments on the forum, I finally got my first epilator. Question was which one? I settled on this one from comments on the website
http://www.target.com/Panasonic-Epiglid ... 000K0QWMU/
It has a razor head and an epilating head. I had planned on using mostly the epilator but found out that the shaver has a comb that will trim hair down to 3/8" (4mm) which works well as I didn't want a bad experience with the epi catching the inch (25mm) long hairs randomly.
It takes a loooong time to do not having done before but the results are good. I do exfoliate in the shower and moisturize after epi and showers.
I'd like to thank all who posted on epilators.
