Minor panic attack... at the races...

Post by Karren Hutton »

That was a close one... Today while I was downtown at the Vintage Grand Prix... A bunch of large storms came through the to the south.. Just hammering the office and around where I lived but downtown was spared.. About 3 one of the security guards called me on my cell and said "some more of the ceiling in your office came down and all the maps and paperwork on your cradenze were soaked". I'd been having leaks since November but this last time I thought they had fixed it for good..

And as he was speaking the first thing that came to mind was.. Damn I had a bag of makeup, jewelry and lingerie in that cradenza". When he said that they would lay everything over my chairs to dry...... all I could see the guards going through the bag and hanging bras and pantys every where to dry.. Lol. Need less to say I wasn't that interested in the last 2 races... Both kids and their friends wanted to leave early anyway so we packed up and headed home..

Of coarse I have ice hockey tonight also... so when I got home I told my wife I had to leave early and swing by work. When I entered the building one of the guards came out "you going up to check out the damage". I didn't detect any thing unbusiness like in his behavior so I figured it wasn't too bad and sure enough when I got to the office there were lots of wet maps and papers but no lingerie!!

WHEWwwwww!! Amazing how your mind can go crazy on you?

Whew!

When I kept cloths in my credenza at work, I kept them in the one drawer that locked.

You wouldn't be planning on all of that string of events happening, would you? This type of thing was why I went cold turkey in college--there was no hiding place that I could guarantee there. You don't keep a locked chest in a dorm room with four guys' possessions all crammed in there. We barely had room for our alarm clocks.

I hope they fix all that damage at night, and don't bother you with repairs during the day when you're trying to work!

It was definately a strange occurance.. But one of the other guys iffice had the sprinklers go off accidentally and they came in and took everything out of his office.. I keeps a nice supply of things on hand for those last minute business trips.. Have of years with no issues.. Locking a good idea... Wish I knew where the key was? Lol.
