Getting the boyfriend out...
So my boyfriend has gotten on board with going full out en femme and leaving the house on Halloween (I know it's far away but we need to start accumulating stuff..) since no one would probably take notice and he will be a bit more comfortable. I'm hoping that this will be a good excuse to finally motivate buying all the wonderful things I've wanted and seeing how fully he can pass instead of just plopping him in a wig and calling it a day. Problem is, I realize the issue has been not that he is hesitant to fully dress up for me but that he is not confident enough with his body image overall. He wants to wear slinky, close fitting dresses and feels as if he is too overweight to do so (*this is where I roll my eyes, he's skinnier than me for goodness sake!*) so in true girly fashion he fusses about it and tries to put it off.
Maybe I can get him into a corset? Everything I want to get him seems so expensive already, and I have no idea how much a decent wig costs. However, I see it as a sort of investment since it's not really for Halloween, but for us throughout the year. Hopefully once he sees himself totally dressed up, he'll be bringing "her" around more often. :D

Now you know what it's like to be in our shoes.

Yeah!! I love Halloween... Where men dress like women and women dress like sluts! Lol. And weight is always an issue. I slow down wanting to go out when I gain a few pounds.. A corset is a great idea.. Makes everything fit better, imho. Check out Wicked Reds corsets on EBay.. Usually a nice one with front clasps and back laces is $45 ish.. I have two civil war era replicas. Over bust and I love them.. Cheap but they do a great job..

I did my debue on Halloween after planning for a long time and found that all I really needed was to pick clothes that fit and were correct, as I realized that I really dident want to go to a "Halloween" party, I wanted an excuse to "pass" and all the things that I wanted to dress up in were fantasy and not passable. If he is not passable than fantasy dressing may be the answer, either way once it he tries "out" he will be hooked and things will easier

Ah the memories, of those two Halloweens!! My only PDF's (not Adobe): Public Display of Femininity. One year dancing all evening with wifey and other ladies, twirling and spinning. The other, serving dinner to friends dressed like a good 50's housewife should.
Wish we had a "dress-up" holiday every month.

Susan, I hope to never get that genie back in. hehe
Thanks Jennifer. I have a vague idea what it's like to be in your shoes, only they are smaller...8 1/2's.
Karen, I take Halloween very seriously! I never dress like a slut but believe in the old tradition of making intricate, homemade costumes and scaring the kiddies. I love it! I don't think I have been a sexy thing once. I guess this year will be different...and suddenly I want to be in shape so the boy and I can try to fit into gorgeous gothic lolita dresses.
Thanks for the link! It can be really helpful and I love corsets myself (civil war replicas! Awesome!)
Carol Ann, I think thats all of our problems. Its not being overweight, it's those stray patches of flub that never go away despite how much you work out. Arrggg....
Debra, you make a good point. We are picking fantasy style outfits on because it is Halloween, although I do feel that if I can do a competent job on covering his shadow he could easily pass. Besides his muscular arms, his frame is smaller than mine and he has quite an androgynous facial morphology. Hopefully, he will look like a girl in costume- like me!
Rikki, I love Adobe. hehe...Ohhh, the 50's housewife sounds like a hot look. I agree, I wish dress up came around more often.
For me Halloween is special too because the first time I ever had a bf CD was this same bf over 10 years ago when we were kids. It was totally what sparked the interest for me. It's only apt that our first Halloween together as adults we should do the same again.

Halloween can be fun. The main thing though is it is usually a bit different focus. Halloween for dressing up more drag style and to blend...regular old clothing. So, to blend go to a thrift store to build a wardrobe. The wig is one thing not to fool around...just go to a wig shop and pay the $100 or so. A corset might be good, but also hip padding can help.
