Dr. Michael Savage radio show
I was listening to the Michael Savage show on August 3rd and he briefly brought up a subject that I never expected.
I am trying to recall, forgive me for not being precise, what he said. It was very brief, but my attention was definately caught.
He led into it by saying that males could do better to be more in touch with their femininity and then said something about him showing up at the studio in heels and lipstick. He then cut to a commercial.
Returning, he made an analogy to panthers, saying that the walk of the male panther was no different than the female. I believe he used the term "lithe". He then followed that by saying that men are damaged by the sterotypes of society and that men need to change. He seemed very serious.
Anyone else hear this? Any thoughts?
And, yes, I realize that he is considered a radical. I listen to a lot of things, read much and then try to filter with intelligence. Savages statement was remarkable not only for its content, but also its brevity.
Oh, and I nearly forgot to mention that he said that all of the male bravado and tough guy stuff was a load of crap. That is not a direct quote, just as close as I can remember.
Hope I am posting this in the right place.

Hi Andrea,
You mean this Michael Savage? The one who calls transgendered people "sick degenerates"?
http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/200905130008
Michael Savage is a bigoted, hate mongering ultra right wing radical. He is everything that is wrong with America. There is nothing he says that anyone should follow. He is the worst of the worst. He is out to make money by breeding hatred.
Love always,
Elizabeth

Controversy sells ads. I'm not defending it by any stretch of the means, but it seems to me all he does is drone on and on for a while about how he's some kind of moral compass for society today, after a couple of insults at whatever target he's got picked out. Hey, if that's what his audience wants to hear, the man's got his sheep figured out. Does that make it right? Of course not.Elizabeth wrote:He is the worst of the worst. Personally, I'm glad to live in a country where I still have the right to be as polarized as this guy is, and not be forced to share a common, "this is the way it's going to be' mindset. That's exactly what this fool wants, is to have a perfect, whitewashed society, but if he didn't have the freedom to bitch and moan about what he wants and his views, no matter how nearsighted they are, neither would anyone else, whether they be peace, love and understanding, "down with ________!!!!"(insert ethnic minority/politician/public official/sports team/soft drink flavor/dogs/cats/etc here) or anything else.He is everything that is wrong with America.
I don't have to agree with any of it, and that's one of the things that's right with America.

Hi Andrea--
I haven't listened to Michael Savage in a long time, but I know that even my moderate/conservative business partner doesn't want to listen to him. He is noted for extreme programming, to say the least. So if you heard what you thought you heard, I can see that you might wonder if you heard correctly.
I agree with Michelle's view on this. I don't have to listen to the guy, and I can disagree with him in public or private. Both our views will be heard, and that's for the good.

I could see the above being sarcastic, but not the one below:He led into it by saying that males could do better to be more in touch with their femininity and then said something about him showing up at the studio in heels and lipstic
The part about panthers being 'lithe,' well, I don't know what to make of that, one way or the other. He then followed that by saying that men are damaged by the sterotypes of society and that men need to change. He seemed very serious.

They even have a male side-kick Kenny... That they routinely feminize by making him wear bras, heels... Makeup... Get spray tans... Its s hoot!!... Drama free!!

I don't condone what this man says or does, nor am I promoting him. I listen to him for maybe fifteen minutes on my last break, mostly because that is all there is to listen to.
The statements that I heard seemed so out of character and strange that I was really interested in what others might think of it and you ladies have certainly responded.
I just can't think why he might have thrown it out like he did. As I said, it was a very brief and flat statement, said in a way that, obviously, did not invite comment.
Very strange, definitely out of character and very weird!
Thank you all for your comments. I still have no idea what this guy is up to. It may be just a way for him to stir the the pot.
Hugs,
Andrea

I live in a dead zone. Right smack in the middle of the USA.
Radio and TV programming, here, is a wasteland of far right garbage.
Oh well....
And you are so right about his motives. As to his right to express his opinions, I am happy to live in a country that defends that right.
Otherwise, this forum would not exist.
Hugs,
Andrea
