I'd have to agree , If a women passes by me in heels, I'll surely be able to tell the hight, type, and color, and if they go with the outfit....... atypical male. LOL!!

Well I sure can notice when a woman passes by me wearing heels. It is hard not to notice! Some men are just not thinking correctly I guess

Most of the article is about the study of male dancing patterns. There are only a few paragraphs specifically about the heel study, and it is inferred that the men couldn't see the actual shoes--only the resulting body postures.

I would think that the exaggerated body postures would have had an impact on men, though, so that's a puzzler. Just my opinion, but I think that men in general do notice when a woman is wearing heels. It isn't an everyday occurrence any more, outside of corporate offices. So the sight of heels carries a novelty factor now that maybe they didn't have in earlier decades.

I guess add me to the atypical males. Yes I can and do notice women wearing heels and not because they are clicking either. Many of the heels do not click and I notice the body movement before the heels. It it wild how gracefully some of these gals are in heels. They have the heel posture and fluid motion even in 5in plus heels and not the best of walking surfaces.

Sadly for some it is their ungraceful wearing of heels that I notice first. As it is very clear that they do not wear heels very often. Some of these you know they will be falling and hurting their selves at some point. Making a walk across campus seem like a daring adventure.

Hi girls,

It's my opinion that women do not dress for men, but for other women. Most men know nothing of fashion, designers, brands, etc. This is all done for the benefit of other women. Men have two categories. Yes I want to have sex with her, no I don't want to have sex with her.

Men don't notice hairdos, clothing, purses, handbags, and whether or not a girls accessories match her outfit and shoes. They buy jewelry but have no idea what constitutes "gaudy" or just plain ugly. They don't understand that a girl does not need to actually be able to read the face of her watch, but that the watch goes well with other accessories.

They don't notice high heels. They notice if a girl is tall or has "legs right up to her neck", or if a girl is short. But to most men, it's definitely not a deal breaker if a girl is too short or too tall. It's girls who care about it. If any of you know any women that are in excess of six feet tall, you will notice you hardly ever see them in anything but flats. But guys don't care.

To me, this is really nothing new or unexpected.

Elizabeth I have a GG friend in OC CA who is 6' 2" in her bare feet she only wears heels for effect. I have seen her in 4" heels - she is awesome

I'm convinced you're right, but I'm not sure how many women are aware of the distinction. They're competing for attention using standards they understand while not taking into account that the men they're trying to appeal to have a completely different set of standards. I can echo Susan's experience on this one. I have a dear friend who is 6'3" and she has a substantial collection of heels she's not afraid to wear when the occasion warrants it. I do agree that especially short women are more likely to wear heels more often, to the extent that they cause themselves permanent injury. I think that says more about the social pressures on short women than tall women.[/quote]

You MUST ask your dear friend where she her shoes!!

I'm a size 14 give or take and the only things I've seen larger than, say, a size 11 are the standard CFM pumps. Where are the really classy shoes for girls with larger feet??

Every now and again, you'll find cute stuff in larger sizes on www.zappos.com or www.designershoes.com, but you're right, most everything in the large sizes is either stripper/fetish stuff.
